What is DCF?

You responded to a question in the DCF threads.

It is when both the USC and beneficiary live outside the US.  You get to skip all of the US stateside processing.

I was scheduled by NVC. I started in the US, but am outside now, I am both petitioner and applicant. Apparently, the embassy is responsible for me now, but I have to confirm that now, how they will reschedule the appointment because NVC scheduled it.

You may want to update your timeline so that you get answers that relate to your situation.  Anyhow your questions is NVC related and best asked in that forum.

No, it's not because the embassy is responsible for me now and I got the same email. So, I am trying to navigate the embassy, since at first I was processed by USCIS and NVC.

This forum is about CR1/IR1 that is filed overseas where the Petitioner and Beneficiary are both overseas.   The same "letter" can be used in multiple types of cases.  You should be posting in the forum that matches your visa type, or the forum about consulates or the forum for Europe.

The only answer for getting a new appointment is to wait for the consulate to reopen.

Quick updated on our situation.

My original interview was scheduled for March 16th and was canceled 2 days prior to the appointment due to the ongoing coronavirus situation. I reschedule the interview for the next available date, which was April 6th.

At the same time I contacted the consulate and requested an emergency appointment due to our specific situation, which was granted for March 19th. Unfortunately, that appointment was also canceled the day prior to the interview.

Early last week the April 6th appointment was also canceled and no further appointments are currently available online.

Last Thursday night I received an email from the consulate that they were granting an emergency interview for today, April 1st.

We were 1 of 4 interviews for today (all of us CR/IR-1s I believe). We received our visas in our passports on the spot (took about 2.5 hours of waiting due to final clearance checks). The interviewing officer mentioned that they were keeping track of our case and apologized that they had to cancel the first emergency appointment. So they are aware of people’s individual situations!

With that being said, if you are in a situation where you need to travel asap, you can try to reach out to the consulate in an email and explain your case. Frankfurt is operating at extremely reduced capacity (no lines out front, no one inside the consulate). If you can wait a few more weeks, I’d suggest to do so but if you’re in a real bind you can give it a try and reach out to them.

Hope this helps!

Great post!!!!!

On a side note, there’s an annotation on the visa that states “EXCEPTION UNDER PROCLAMATION”, which ensures that the visa holder is still allowed to travel while the proclamation is in place.

hi there, I assume this is only possible for DCF's, correct? We were approved by NVC and contacted the embassy but the operator said that she could not put us through to the visa section as no-one was there.... had you had your medical prior to scheduling the emergency interview ?

thanks a lot!

All consulates are shut down.  Embassies are running skeleton crews.

DCF's have a seperate set of reasons that can be considered an emergency.  Part of doing a DCF is that the petitioner is in that country and has access to the American Citizen Services at the embassy

Since the immigrant had the appointment cancelled 2 days prior it is very possible they had the medical completed.
