Yes, my dear MIL has reached that "almost as joyous occasion as menstruation" known as menopause now, so that part of her life is over.  I guess growing up used to cloths and being opposed to today's modern products is similar in nature (and timing) to cloth diapers vs. modern options, but she wanted no part of it.  She'd rather carry around her "diaper bag" once a month and handle things herself.

 

I know I have been all over the place on this particular subject, and in no way am I trying to say we as a society should go backwards in regards to feminine hygiene.  Just that it shouldn't be free, any more than food or healthcare or travel is free.  If more availability is needed, let's bring back vending machines.  Or another solution that is more viable perhaps.

I know where mine keeps hers.  And I thought I'd be clever one time and remove a purse she hadn't used in a while.  The plan was to prove that she wouldn't even miss it.  I think it was about three days later that I had to fess up during her frantic search all over the house for it.   I came to accept that I am stuck with more purses than any 5 people actually need.

Certain bags are appropriate for certain outfits and for certain purposes. There are factors that need to be taken into account. So, I have probably six of what I think of as everyday bags. Nothing fancy, go with everything casual to a little fancy (decent restaurant), usually in neutral colors. They are in different sizes though -- I have a couple of wristlets that are good when I'm running out the door and don't need to bring a bunch of stuff with me. Most are medium sized and can hold the basics, plus a few extra things like a novel or cloth shopping bags, small makeup bag, etc. Then I have one biggish one that my laptop fits in, plus a cardigan, power cables, etc.

 

Then there are all the ones that are in less practical colors, that I do when I feel I need something a little more interesting. These are also in a variety of styles, sizes, levels of fancy, practicality. Match them to the occasion. Life has a ton of different occasions!

 

Then there are the ones that are strictly for weddings, black tie events, etc. These get the least use, for obvious reasons. I probably have about 50 different bags, but those six everyday ones get the most use. Since I have moved to a capsule wardrobe, bags are one way to keep it looking fresh and varied. I'm not really a shoe person, so bags are the way I accessorize. I leave the shoe fetish to my better (?can that be said by a woman about her male partner?) half.

Like I said... THREE all-purpose, medium sized bags.  I'll go so far as to allocate the larger laptop/cardigan one.  Have Alex give me a ring, we can start the downsizing soonest.

Btw, tampons are great for starting a campfire even in the rain.  Just soak some in diesel fuel, keep them in a plastic bag, and instant fire with wet wood and a match.

Better yet, dip the end in melted wax.  MUCH cleaner to carry around, and burns cleaner.

Hilarious, tons of white men in here that have never experienced a period lmao. I don't think they should be free but there is quite literally a tax on them that exists just because they are women's hygenie products, we don't have a toilet paper tax so why do we have an exclusive tampon tax. Seriously.
