When to apply for SSN (split)

It doesn't matter for AOS if you will have/had a big fancy wedding or just a courthouse/ordained person marrying you at home.

 

 

Oh, should I apply for my SSN BEFORE I get married and not after? Easy enough just would like clarification on this.

The benefit has to do with the interface between the SAVE system and the SSA. I would go as soon as arriving in the US.

I have no idea about obtaining an SSN for K-2s.  Also - this has become a thread jack of sorts.  Please start your own thread for your questions.

K-2 does not qualify for an SSN. They need an EAD or green card.

To add to what you said, the SSN will be available to help in commingling you into his accounts which is a sure test for AOS not to mention it's needed for health insurance and banking. :thumbs:

Which sometimes leads to the strange situation of applying for an EAD for someone who is too young to legally work in most cases just to get an SSN ...
