Hello! I had a social security card with an F-1 visa /OPT that said valid with DHS authorization only and once i received my green card i went to the social security office to get a new one that did not have that and they said it would take 2 weeks top to mail out. However, its been over a month and apparently my application has been under "investigation".... does anyone know what that means???

can i still get a job with my old social security card or do i have to get the new one?

You can, you just need to show DHS authorization to work.  Just like it says on the card.

Your green card is evidence of your status as a legal permanent resident, and therefore your right to live and work in the United States.

Greencard should be fine. It is on list A as accepted documents for the I-9. I dont think u need to show your social security card at all. Worst case they cant say anything about it.

Just to add, I got a new one because my local credit union did not accept my SSN card with those words, even when I presented my GC. So if you can take an extra trip to SSN office, why not do it and avoid any possible headaches later on.
