Next steps for applying for a Visa (K-1 Fiance(e) Visa)

I am writing this post to inquire about the next steps for the K-1 visa.
Per the case status, embassy has received my packet from NVC, however I have not received any information from the embassy yet. Does this mean I have to proceed by filling out the DS-160 before receiving the documents?

If someone could help me the next steps of the process. As per this link (The Second Step: Applying for a Visa / Required Documentation) https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html

It says I have to go for a medical, but without any information provided by the embassy how will I get the medical examination.

My question is: Is the embassy going to send me documents before I schedule my interview with them? If yes how long does it take for the embassy to send the documents. Thanks!

For most people to help, we need to know what embassy, then we can give more specific information. Your beneficiary will need police clearance certificates from any country he/she has lived in for more than 6 months, this should have been done while waiting for the NOA2, long before you are at the embassy stage, as some certificates can take months to acquire. The medical can be done usually with the NOA2 notice. You have to make an appointment with the authorized Medical facility approved by USCIS in the country where your beneficiary resides and will interview. Let us know what embassy, and we can give you more detailed steps of where you have to be. Sounds like you are behind schedule right now for most things. as long as the police clearence is done, medical is pretty easy. you should have started on vaccinations a while ago, but that isn't too big a deal, as they will get your benefitiary current vaccinations at the medical( Of course it costs more then because they have you behind the 8-Ball so to speak, but manila includes them in the medical cost, so it is best to do them at the medical exam) let us know what embassy, and we can help you out. And some embassies send things, others do not, lots of variables.

Thank you for your replies. My embassy is Islamabad, Pakistan

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Hi @ahmu83

My fiance recently went through the process of the K1 visa at Islamabad embassy. For him, he did not get any confirmation/ letter from the embassy. From what I understand if your status on the CEAC website says "Ready" you can go ahead and submit the DS-160. Once you have submitted your DS-160 and you have paid your visa fee then you can go to ustraveldocs to schedule your interview and then you can also schedule your medical. You will need the confirmation of submitting the DS-160 and also your interview confirmation but you don't need anything specific to be sent from the embassy.  We ended up waiting a little over a month to get something from the embassy and when we didn't get anything I sent an inquiry which simply confirmed that our case was at the embassy. My fiance probably could have submitted the DS-160 a few weeks sooner.

Best of luck with the rest of the K1 visa process!

Hello @desertrose24

Thank you for your reply. I was told to use another sub-forum to post my question on so I have posted it here now

I am thinking that as well because it has been a month and I havent heard anything yet so I should go ahead and submit my DS-160 and schedule an interview with them. But I am thinking how will I have my medical exam without a notification from the embassy or I have to get a list of hospitals to get the medical exam done? Where can I get that?

Also if you could help me what were the questions asked in the interview I will be very thankful to you. Thanks!
