I just realized that my child's passport is going to expire,  expire in May 2022.  With currently process time, I think i need to renewal it now and expedite.

one question, should expedite fee and application fee in separate check or can be combine in one check?

When I did mine via usps the payment to DoS for both passport fee and expedite fee was in one check. I assume anyway if you renew by mail it should have payment instructions clearly explained on the website?

Any passport application fees or expediting fees or 1-2 delivery all get combined into one check for the state department. When you get done with the application online, it’ll tell you the exact amount to be written on the check. There are also several few calculators online.

Am I the only one who notices that applicants who pay for expedited processing and shipping are taking a tad bit longer to get their passports than the persons who go the routine way? Could it be that expedited applications are overwhelming the centers? 🤷‍♀️

There's an update on the Passport Tracker site:

As of October 8, routine service will take up to 14 weeks and expedited service will take up to 10 weeks. These door-to-door times include both processing times and mailing times on the front and back end. You will continue to see our older processing times listed until we complete technical upgrades to our online system by October 20.
