Why are you applying for a visa as  French national rather than using VWP?

Have you had any contact at all with the embassy in the interim? I presume you have your passport.

Just genuinely curious:  would they even do such a prolonged AP just for a B visa?  That seems like an odd use of resources, especially since there is no USC stakeholder.

There is a hint in OP’s username, and I suspect he was (or possibly still is) a national of another country now living in France, but let’s see what he comes back and says.

Its rare but not unheard of for B AP to be so long. And with no US stakeholder, there is no pressure to resolve it within any sort of reasonable timeframe either.

Even so, just seems strange that so much time and effort would be put in for a non immigrant visa, for anyone.

I have double nationalities: French and another country that is present in the "muslim ban" list. Embassy contacted me once for complementary information 6 days after my visa interview and since then there is not any update from their side. Yes I took my passport since I needed it for my other trips ...

And you didn't contact them to follow up? I would have at least done that to ensure it had not somehow slipped through the cracks.

Anyway yes I guess if you want you can contact them to withdraw the application.

This made me a lot worried, I have attended my F1 visa interview on the 2nd of January 2020, and I got AP issue, seeing that someone who applied for B1 visa waited more than 24 months is really sad 😕

I guess you just email them to withdraw it. People generally just wait for an answer rather than withdrawing. Not a question we generally see.

I have read in previous topics that people either withdraw their application by email or by going directly to the embassy, so good luck!
