Great... I also received an RFE on my I-485. I was hoping since the EAD and AP were somewhat separate, it wouldn't affect his EAD

They are separate per say, but the eligibility is based on the i485 being approvable.  An RFE puts the approvability into question,  thus the halt

Timeline

My husband ended up getting his green card before his EAD. We filed in September, got a RFIE in November, and had the interview in January. Approval a week ago.
