Oh wow. I didn't know that USCIS also calls. I thought they usually just send a mail. My i751 as per the last update is still at the Potomac center. My only concern is that I don't want them to cancel or reschedule my interview just because my i751 is pending.

I didn't know they call either. There is no combo interview letter. I think calls are at the discretion of the interviewing officer or office. I would definitely call uscis though and see what they say. They have been known to do the n400 even if the I-751 isn't in the office yet.

Hi guys.
my wife had her n400 interview yesterday in Chicago which was a combo interview. My wife was asked some questions from the 751 and the IO asked for our current bank statements and tax return. The IO then started the n400 interview. My wife passed that but due to pending 751 the io couldn’t approve on the spot. She said it would be early 2021 when we will receive a 751 approval letter along with a day for the oath ceremony.  Has anyone ever experienced this? I was hoping everything would be approved and set forth the same day. This journey never seems to end.

My wife has her interview for n400 on January 11 which is going to be combo with 751 pending. Could you please share what kind of questions were asked?

As for approvals, I have seen that for some people they update it to approve after few days and Chicago doesn’t do same day oath so could be reason for early 2021 timeframe.

please keep us updated when status changes.

Hi mmkshah

thanks for the details. I didn’t realize Chicago didn’t do same day oath and now that makes a lot of sense! IO asked my wife where I’ve worked in the past and asked who lives in our house. She asked what car we drive as well. That was basically the 751 interview. We don’t have kids either.

Sorry guys i am very late but I forgot to post my experience here on this section of my “combo interview”. This was on 11/06/2020.

Here is the post...:goofy:

I AM A US CITIZEN!!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

My experience was amazing! Very friendly and professional officer 👮🏻‍♂️

I got same day oath ceremony!  Decided not to change my name because I would have had to wait 3 weeks and I didn’t wanna wait. I’ll change my name in the near future in court.

Interview was easy, combo interview I-751/N400. Plexiglass was in between me and the officer. Was put under oath then I was asked basic info and my I-751 was approved. Then we went on to the N-400 and was asked

“Who is your US Senator?”

”Who makes Federal Laws?”

”Who wrote the Declaration Of Independence?”

”How many US Senator?”

”What ocean is on the west coast of the US?”

”Name one war that happened in the 1800?”

I got all correct and we moved on to the reading and writing and I used a IPad to read and write.

Reading was

”What do we pay to the US Government?”

Writing was

“We pay taxes.”

we went through the yes and no questions like

”Have you ever claimed to be a US Citizen?”

”Have you voted or registered in a election?”

”Have you ever worked Illegally?”
“Have you ever claimed to be a US Citizen in writing Or any other way (like on a I-9 form or government forms?)”

“Have you ever not filed taxes?”

”Have you ever killed someone?”

After going through the yes and no question

we went through the rest of the application and that was it I signed a paper to show all my info was correct and then he approved me. He congratulated me and escorted me to a room where the oath ceremony would be taking place.
I waited about 1 hour for the oath ceremony that was being done in the USCIS Office. Social distanced and mask wore at all times. There were 6 other people who were there waiting to be naturalized. We then did the oath of allegiance and that was it! I became a US Citizen. They gave me my certificate and made sure everything was correct on it and that’s it!

Now time to apply for US Passport and update SSN and apply for a new Driver license. Lol

I’m so excited!!!! Good luck everyone with your journey to US Citizenship! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  •

Congratulations! Was you with your spouse or alone? Thanks

My spouse just got his citizenship notice interview but the I-751 is still showing pending. Should I call to see what will happen with that case? We have not received or know if they will do both interviews at the same time.

I am in the same situation. My i751 is pending with no update and my N400 is coming up. From what I have read on this forum and others, they usually do a combo interview and won't send out a separate letter for combo interview. Go with your spouse for their N400 interview because they will need you if they end up doing a combo interview.

You can call and ask if the I-751 is at the local office with the n400 and the likelihood of having both interviews together.

I am in the same situation - my N400 interview is on Jan 21st and my I-751 is still pending. My interview letter doesn't mention anything about it being a combo interview.

I sent an inquiry to see if I should bring my wife along as well.

We have a 1 year old, will we be able to take her along as well? (Assuming combo interview)

Yesterday I received a message that USCIS has taken an action on my case and it need my ATTENTION!! When I logged in I didn’t see an update. So, I called USCIS and I explained the situation. They went ahead and checked my case and told me that as of 12/14/20 my biometric was pulled and it was cleared and they have also  requested for me to do an interview. So, I did my biometric for my 10 year green card from November 2019 and I still haven’t received an green card. I went ahead and filed my citizenship this April 25, 2020 Therefore, I’m assuming they are using that old biometric. So, I’m just waiting patiently ( as always) to see what the next step is, and I will update it here. First of all my time line is not updated because I lost my original account and I don’t remember all that information. So if any questions feel free to ask.

I just check my USCIS account and noticed a new update which appeared on 14th of December,

U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has received your form and is currently processing your application, petition, or request. This notice
informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use
your biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics
appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.
USCIS is continuing to process your application, petition, or request. USCIS will contact you in writing if any additional information is necessary to resolve
your case.

My Service Center is showing as "NBC" for my N-400, My ROC I-751 is still pending since March 2019 and since July 2019 its showing "Scheduling your interview" Should I expect something in near future or its just a routine based notice. My local USCIS office is Sacramento, Ca. I would appreciate that if somebody would share his/her knowledge about this notice. Thank you everyone, Good luck and stay strong. We are almost there. Fingers Crossed :)
Removal of Conditions

03/08/19  Sent ROC package to Arizona from California

03/11/19  Received by USCIS with Signature

03/15/19  Moneyorders were cashed out

No text or mail from USCIS received yet, Fingers Crossed!

On December 14 when I spoke to the immigration officer she told me that my biometric was reused and my case was requested for an interview. Then on the 15 of December I check my case and I saw a notice that says my biometric was reused. ( under the document section). I will also receive that notice in the mail. However, I’m just practicing my civics test because I’m assuming my interview will be soon. Just go ahead and study for your test since you know you won’t need a biometric anymore. I’m not worried about the I751 because I’m sure the immigration officers know that it is there. That is where they took my biometric from anyway. Lol

Yes I did! They approved the 751 this morning and now we’re waiting for oath ceremony status update. The tracking # for the n400 says they are actively reviewing the case. Hopefully it happens soon but it’s a major relief 751 was approved at least.
