affidavits are really poor evidence. joint accounts, financial documents, wills/power of attorneys, etc, photos/tickets from trips or going to events together, items like that will carry more weight.

Thanks again for your help.

Unfortunately, my wife and I just got married and we do not have any shared accounts/finances.

So, there was a list and the only thing that was possible for us were the affidavits......

Evidence of a Bonifide Marriage

The USCIS now requires that when filing an I-130 for a spouse that you include evidence of a bonifide marriage. They list examples of acceptable evidence as:

    • Documentation showing joint ownership or property; or
    • A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence
    • Documentation showing co-mingling of financial resources;
    • Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage); or

Would the photo/tickets be sufficient for the evidence?

Because if that is the case, it will be a lot more simpler for me.

    Thanks again though.

you can add her to a bank account or credit cards (many banks do not need a ssn to add a cardholder), you can have wills drafted, life insurance policies, health insurance policies, letter from the bank stating you are beneficiaries on each others accounts, etc

Thanks again for the good advice.

However, do you think the photo album and affadavit will be sufficient?

As previously alluded to, affidavits carry little to zero weight in the overall evaluation of a file; in addition, they are not required.  Furthermore, couples living apart in separate countries are not expected or required to have joint accounts, finances, etc. so I would stress about that either.

Your best evidence is evidence is evidence of time spent together in-person.  Anything you have to support that should be your main focus.

The additional evidence of a bona fide marriage relationship depends a lot on the country where the visa interview will take place.  You don't have a timeline so it is impossible to give you good advice.  How many times have you seen each other, in person?  For how many days/weeks/months total?  Are there any red flags like a big age gap, different religions, cultures, a language barrier, past visa applications, etc.?  These are important to consider, because any red flag or if the visa interview will be in a high-fraud country, more evidence is better with the I-130 petition to increase your eventual chances of a visa approval.  Visit the country portal here on VJ to see what others have been through in your situation, and you'll find lots of good advice there.  More research would be a good idea.  For some countries, with no red flags at all, the required civil documents, petition, plus photos and boarding passes/passport stamps may be sufficient.  In other cases, lots of evidence is needed.  Good luck!

Hello,

The Affidavit  to show we are in a relationship.  I need this since I do not share the other options mentioned in the list.

Never needed one.  Attach evidence of your trip (or trips) where you spent time together (for reference I had one trip-LOL to go get married boom) your wedding, your marriage certificate, and send it in.  No international couples have all that evidence on that list.

If you can add your spouse to health insurance pending social security number do that, anything else like banking or life insurance or credit cards etc will probably have to wait.

Affidavits have no evidentiary value.  I’ll prepare one for you for twenty bucks LOL (kidding but it’s that easy to get them from friends and family)

Not at all.
What country are you from?

IMO Start commingling your lives and when you have more “evidence” then submit the petition.

I sent in two affidavits.  Each was from my brothers in law who witnessed the signing of the contract (we didn't have a wedding).

Affidavits are fine if you are submitting additional proof. I don’t want the OP thinking an affidavit is all he needs to prove his relationship.

Hello,

Thanks for the info.

At the moment, I was going to submit photos (10-12), plane tickets/stamps (5-6), wedding invitations (1), official marriage certificate and her family registry (which has been updated to include me)

Hello,

We've seen each other about 2x per year since 2016.

So, summer of 2016, winter of 2016, summer of 2017,  summer of 2018, winter of 2019 (around January 2019) and fall of 2019 (marriage).

There is zero red flags.  We are actually both the same ethnicity and both born in the same country (I am naturalized US citizen).

Two year age gap, zero language barrier and she has no past marriages/visa apps...

However, I will take your advice and look around some more on this site.

Thanks again.
