Some people are always going to take offense at anything. Why does the outrage of a bunch of randos on Twitter mean anything more than people who like the sound of their own voice virtually shouting? Why is this even a story? I mean, it's hardly news if I start ranting on here about abortion access (no offense to myself, but I am just one rando on the internet). There's no Fox News headline, "ALIMONY QUEEN SUPPORTS CHILD MURDER, EATING BABIES" as far as I know.

 

Anyway, I like this quote I saw from Ellen:

I try to be kind to everyone, even to people who have treated me poorly in the past. My dad is completing his metamorphosis from right-on surfer dude to Fox News-watching MAGA, but I still love him. We do more by being kind and civil in our disagreements than by shouting. We may never agree, but there's no need to cut off lines of communication for that reason.

I don't know!  I bet it's out there, but maybe it's not the story the media wants to push right now? We can't expect that we know the whole story from the narrative that's being sold to us. We have to look for ourselves.

Or maybe it is simply intolerance of one side.  I don't imagine a lot of Leftist like the fact that Elton John is friends with Rush Limbaugh.

But we can't say that definitively, that only one side is intolerant, without actually looking into it. I'm not saying I'm the be all and end all of journalistic standards -- I only took a course on Journalism at the local community college because I needed something to do with my time, but we have to look at the primary sources to determine what is likely to be happening. So if I were at a computer right now I could spend some time looking on Twitter to find tweets that shamed Bush, I'm sure I could. And I could make the narrative that -- "Right wingers shame GWB for sitting with lesbian." But the REAL narrative is -- why do we even care what some random individuals have to say about two people's friendship? There is no story here except that the media is trying to confirm that "left wing does this" or "right wing does that" by puffing up some tweets and divide us further because it makes more clicks and therefore more revenue. Tweets! WHO CARES?

Becuse the left in general is usually very intolerant of those this dont share their viewpoints. All though there is a small percentage of very far right, that are very intolerant of Gays etc. I see it on my FB feed sometime and SMH. Its sually also the very vocal love filled christian right

 

I also get a charge out of the ones that post thinly veiled racist overtone posts, then post a story about some black guy somewhere that did something good, to show how tolerant they are

There is certainly intolerance in the extreme Right, but intolerance really appears to be pervasive among the mainstream Leftist.

It is interesting that in this case the intolerance seems to be decidedly one sided.  I searched for right leaning groups condemning President Bush, but could not find anything.

  Sure, but life is not just about this one case. In other cases it can be decidedly intolerant coming from the other direction.

Fair enough.  When talking about life, the thing that troubles me is the large amount of political intolerance we see on university campuses today.  These also seem decidedly one sided, and seems to be coming from more mainstream factions.

Just saw a comedian.  He was joking about California.  If you a Republican in California,  you better keep it to yourself.
