My Father requested a marriage record at the PSA and found two marriages - from his first wife and my Mom. His first wife left him and their children since 1970 and never heard anything eversince, he doesn't know if she's still alive or not and even my brothers don't remember what she looked like, they were 5 years old and below at that time. Then he married my Mom in 1992 both civil and church wedding. I am confused what papers to send. There was a question in a form that says "How was the previous Marriage terminated"? To those with the similar situation Please enlighten me. Thank you.

He needs evidence that the first marriage was legally terminated, or the second marriage is rendered not valid.

If the 1st married wasn't annulled or   ? ? ?     .. the second marriage  ...  well it may be time to talk with an attorney.

I have a feeling this happens a lot in the Philippines. It never becomes an issue unless someone tries to immigrate. Archaic refusal to allow divorce puts many people in eternal limbo there....

Finally done...

Yes .. that is for sure, we have friends where he is married to another, but has been in a long term relationship with this woman that is our friend.   Even if annulment were easy to complete the cost is so far beyond what the average person can afford that it is impossible anyway.

But all of this begs the question;  With the requirement to present a CENOMAR or annotated CEMAR to marry in the Philippines, HOW is having two marriages even possible?  (ya I know..  ;)  )       One more "control from a nanny country" that doesn't work for squat.
