Hi all.  I had my Interview for naturalization on August 20th. I passed the civics and english test but my immigration officer told me he can't make a decision at this time, he needed more information on our relationship. We've been living together in the US for 5 years and married for 7. I faxed all of the information requested the very next day but my online case has not been updated since. Has anyone has a problem like this? I was hoping to go back to Ireland for 2 weeks for Christmas but now I don't know what to do.

That seems odd.  Were you both at the interview?  Were you interviewed separately?

What other info did he request?

My husband did not attend the interview. He had no way to take time off work and we weren't "worried" I guess about being real since we've already been through so much of the process. I guess that was dumb of us..

Originally I had sent our marriage cert and Apartment lease. The officer said this was not enough information.

He requested:
tax forms
our car lease and insurance information
a letter from both of our jobs stating we are each others emergency contact

I faxed everything by lunch time the very next day. I still haven't heard anything and my online case has not been updated.

Sounds like a Naturalization case, not a spouse visa case.  So, the husband would not be there and the interview would not normally be about the relationship between husband and wife.

Why was YOUR interview about that?

According to OP's timeline, US entry on a spousal visa was in 2015, so OP is applying for naturalization under the three years married rule, hence the request for evidence of ongoing marital relationship.  If OP had waited until 2020 to apply, the marriage evidence would not be necessary as it would be at that point five years after LPR status was obtained in 2015.

I was naturalized under the 3 years rule, and they didn't ask anything about marriage. I even had to ask them if they wanted to see anything, like my kid's birth certificate or anything, but they weren't interested in.

However, I did not get my green card through marriage, so that was probably why.

Thank you all for your replies. Although I am still confused as to why such a request for made I suppose in this day and age of things I kind of understand.

There is still no update to my case.
