Lucky for you it took us about 4 weeks to do the ROM when we mailed it to Washington

Wow! I went to the embassy here in Toronto and had everything listed except that my husband is not with me but they wanted him to be with me in person to sign in person. Before this, I called them twice if there is a need of physical appearance of both and both times they said no need as long as signatures are original (wet ink) not photocopy or scanned only to be told afer the long queue that he needs to sign infront of them. We haven’t registered our marriage yet because he can not come until Nov and I am already waiting for my interview date. They told me it will take 5 months from ROM to get a copy from PSA?

That's crazy. The system can be bad sometimes (or most of the time) cause I read a lot of reviews about it. Anyway, if you haven't reported your marriage and you two have been married for over a year then I think there's an additional requirement for it.

I did my ROM in SF, I can’t say it’s fast hehe. We did go in person, and yes you can do ROM and renewal the same day, just make sure you go to the consulate very early, like ideally once they open.  Once your ROM is has been paid for and all, they normally ask you to come back around 1pm or 2pm to pick it up.  So after that you can easily go back to second floor and do your renewal of passport. All in all it will cost you 85 bucks. 60 for passport and 25 for ROM. I renewed my passport June 20 and my new passport was ready for pick up Aug 1.  You can have your new passport sent to you, just make sure you bring a self addressed prepaid mailing envelope.

Oh, I kept my old one after I renewed it since it doesn’t expire u til Sept. So a couple of days before August 1 I mailed to them my old passport along with the claim stub for the new passport. They won’t mail your new passport until they get your old one, they mailed both the old passport and the new one together.

Good to know.  We are renewing at the outreach event this weekend but she cannot be without her passport ID as she has biometrics next week.   Just wanted to be sure she could keep it during that period of time in between

YMMV

Thank you for this information. I might just mail it and if it will take a while then we will just wait. San Francisco is a bit far from us so we don’t want to go there and end up processing nothing. I appreciate this information ☺️
