I am confused right now. My husband and I are filing for AOS. Since we just got married few months ago, we also want to report our marriage to the nearest Philippine embassy. Once I have this, I can renew my passport and change my last name to my husband's. My question is, if I would renew my passport (change my last name), would this cause trouble on my AOS application and upcoming interview?

Please do note that my passport isn't expired or about to expire. I just need a government issued ID with my husband's last name.

How to schedule an appointment? Tried to reach out the embassy but nobody answered my questions. We didn't want to go to the embassy and end up not being able to process it.

Were you able to file both Report of Marriage and passport renewal (changing your wife's last name) at the same time?

What do you need it for?

Also were you able to follow the Filipino naming format? I know some people get the mix up with the middle name/maiden name and they weren't able to get a.passport in their married name.

Yes, followed the Filipino naming format. My maiden name is now my middle name have my husband's last name as now my new last name. I need it for the bank to have joint account with my husband. We want it to use my new last name. Also whenever places ask for my ID such as for health insurance in the hospital, they question me a lot about having a different last name.

We never do things the normal way!  We did the ROM in Hong Kong the next day the consulate was open. They said it would take 12 weeks for the passport so we skipped it then.  After we got to Mexico Mary did the passport.  It took about a week to get it back.

I've helped a few do it in LA.  Basically they got an early am appointment for the ROM, had lunch and then an afternoon appointment for the passport.  Yes getting an appointment is a challenge.

I see. I guess we will just have to process it by mail then if it's a hassle to schedule an appointment. Thank you for this information! This really helps a lot!
