Packing to move to the US?

I bought a coffee press and found it was actually cheaper to get ground coffee and just brew what I want and it tastes better because you have so many choices.  But for some reason, it was one little thing that made me unhappy in the mornings because I had to change the way I started my day lol.

One of the first things that my husband bought for me was a coffee maker (I use ground coffee always!). He knows not to mess with his wife's need for good coffee.. He does not drink it himself but he loves the smell of fresh coffee in the house in the morning now.. I guess that's what makes the house our home now!

As far as packing things: I am organizing a yard sale for all my friends (and have my farewell party at the same time) for all my stuff. Whatever they don't want, I will have picked up by a charity shop and I will only take some clothes, shoes and personal nick-nacks. A bit of a clean start I suppose (and I also have a whole wardrobe in the US of course.. 😉).

I had the silliest thing with coffee.  You know those nice, more expensive instant coffees you get in the UK? So easy to make and taste so good?

My wife is going to laugh at this one. She says, "I can't understand why Brits think instant coffee is coffee. Why doesn't anybody own a proper coffee maker?"

Living here, I can totally see why she says that. It didn't take me long to catch on. Instant coffee here is TERRIBLE lol.

I did have several coffee makers in Britain, but you could also get really good instant coffee there and since I was picky about my coffee I would take my own to work. I didn't have time to brew coffee at the office so instant worked for me.

When we visit England, we rent a cottage/bungalow type place for the duration. She has to buy UK instant at Sainsburys so maybe needs to know what brand. All she can remember from last summer was it was crystals and had "gold" in the name. Maybe Nescafé.

That sounds like Nescafe Gold, yes. It's one of the better ones.  Douwe Egberts (not sure if I spelled that right - it's been a while ...) also had some really nice coffees in the instant range and if she likes strong coffee, I seem to recall a Nescafe Black. The price tag is generally a reliable indicator of quality with instant coffee in the UK :D

Edit to add: I always kept away from stores' own brands - even if they claimed luxury. The knock-off ones always had a weird aftertaste.
