3rd party affidavits

Thank you for the help so far, I have a question about the 3rd party affidavits.  Do these need to be affirmed in front of a notary?  There doesn't appear to be a professional who will notarize something like this in Vietnam.  They seem to only do contracts and such.

 

Side question:  When they mail things to my mailing address will it contain forms I can't just download?  I'd prefer not to take a chance with the mail in Vietnam losing it and have it sent to a relative in the USA.

Correct direct answer.  Maybe better answer is not to do any third party affidavits at all.  They are useless at best and harmful, usually.

Your only mail will be receipt notice, approval notice and potentially Request for Initial Evidence.  Use a relative's address in the USA.

Correct. They don’t hold much value. In a place like Vietnam, I can give $10 to a notary guy and he will notarize anything I want

Notary is not the issue.  They are verifying who signed the document.  My answer is also not country specific.  It's a rare circumstance where such an affidavit would be even a little bit of a positive addition to a petition package.
