Hello,

I am adjusting status from F1 Student to Green Card through marriage (filed in May 2019) and would like to get health insurance while I wait for my green card (fingerprints approved - waiting on work permit).

I would like to get health insurance but unfortunately open enrollment closed and I do not qualify for any of the special events so I would have to wait until November 2019. My husband has private insurance but adding me is not an option.

1. Is there a way to get health insurance now?

2. If so, where?

Thank you!

You can purchase short term temporary health coverage .. which will cover catastrophic medical events but not routine or preexisting medical conditions.. until you are able to sign up for health insurance during the next open enrolment period
