Hi Folks,

Can anyone provide me with information on just exactly how they calculate the Affidavit of Support? I make well in excess of the 125% of the poverty level for a 2 person household. I'm just curious if there is some particular way they do it.

Thanks in advance!

This is tricky.  Some embassies hold true to passing someone who exhibits your situation.  Makes more then what is required. Done, pass. Others will have a CO that puts you through he11 even when you're over the requirements.  Just recently  a CO issued a 221(g) after an interview for the beneficiary to submit the I-864 which is not used at the interview stage but at AOS after marriage.  It so stated in all their regulations that the I-134 is used but she required the I-864.  Some embassies don't even ask for financials.  So you just don't know what to expect.

For the vast majority of us who went through Manila they didn't even ask us for any financial docs.....

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

My fiancé just had her interview last week and they did not ask for any financials, even though she had everything with her.

Well thanks to everyone for your responses. It sounds like we should have everything with us just in case the moon is full or the CO hasn't had a good day or something like that.😄 So  it's kinda like a flip of a coin as to whether they ask for it or not it seems. Hey by the way does anyone know where I might be able to purchase some more Patients as mine is sometimes hard to come by! Nah, just kidding, Ive waited for 2 years now and a few more weeks/months aren't going to kill me especially knowing what the Reward is going to be! I love my little Princess and cant wait to start our lives together!😍

You have one of the easiest embassy's to process through. 3-5 questions and approved! I really doubt they will ask for financials as the odds are less then 5% of the beneficiary's get asked.
