Hi everyone,

My K1 petition was approved on May 2nd (yay), however, I haven't received any information from NVC. Am I supposed to receive notice when they get it?

Normally take 2 weeks and a half before NVC process incoming approvals. Keep in mind Monday is a holiday. Takes about 12-15 days if im not mistaken.

Please join the thread below, as there are many VJ'rs that are on the same timeline as you. Many of your questions at this stage, including the one you just asked, are answered there. Download the PDF file in the first post for tips, tricks and hacks to get through this stage.

After NOA2 it take USCIS about a month to send your case file to NVC. It takes NVC about 1-3 weeks to receive and assign a case number. Then, depending on your case assignment it will be sent onto your embassy but they only send every other week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Your case number has to be assigned by the Wednesday before the shipping schedule. Next shipment is next week 5/28 and 5/29. So you have a little more of ways to travel till your is on its way to your embassy.

Welcome aboard.

Hi Janet! Thank you so much!! You're so sweet.

Im wondering about when signatures on documents being brought to the embassy need to be signed. I heard about a 30 day limit that any signature outside of 30 days from the appointment is invalid. I know thats the case for the police report....but is it true for all of the docs? Im traveling to algeria this week and dont want to have to ship documents. Thanks!!!!

In Algeria the birth certificate is good for six months and the police certificate (criminal record) is good for three. He will also need his military card. All of those documents need to be translated.

I believe you are correct regarding the updated internet to marry (needs to be within a month). I am not sure how long the I 134 in good for (it was the letter from my bank that seemed to take forever to get).

You can also take pictures and copy your plane ticket and passport stamps from any trips you have taken to Algeria as further proof of a relationship (which the IO may or may not look at) I attended the interview with my fiancé and the interviewer only glanced at the additional evidence.

Have you received the case number from NVC yet?
