Hi everyone. on 02/21 I received my approval letter. After 4 weeks I called them to get an update. They said they had my application papers and gave me a case number. Here we are today and still no letter or word from them. I verified they had my email and correct address when I had them on the phone. Any advice?

Ayrton, Thanks for the reply. I have tried to check case status online through the NVC website. I don't see a way to check on the case status. I must be missing something. The USCIS has a way to check for updates, but they quit reporting updates as soon as it left their desks. What URL do you use to check the status at NVC?

By the way, on Thursday of last week, (4/11/19) I emailed them at the address listed on this forum. No reply yet.

Check status in https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

You may get the reply of your email from NVC in a few weeks but NVC’s part is done anyway.

Use your case number on the immigrant section.

All I get is:

Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask.

It is my understanding that NVC mails me a letter with instructions. We are fast approaching 8 weeks is my point. Everything I read on this forum states two to 4 weeks for processing. Just wondering what could be causing such a delay solely based on everyone elses wait times.  I am a worrier by nature, but this is torture...lol

NVC won't send you any letter.

They might send you an email saying the case was forwarded to the embassy, but that's not always the case. So check the status online, if it says ready, check what your embassy says on their website. For some embassies you don't even need to wait for them to contact you to book an appointment.

I have not received any emails. Checking the case status online does not yield me anything. I have tried several times. It's a dead end. Since I was given a case number via a phone call several weeks ago, i have to believe the information is in their system by now. Not sure what is amiss, but something is. Now when I try to contact them via phone, I get only a recording and no way to reach a live person of course. I will try through the embassy tomorrow when they open.

Did you track at the immigrant section? Does the start of your case number reflect your embassy?

If you go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ Switch case status to "Immigrant" then put your case number (In your case it should start with KEV2019 probably) what does it say in big letters? Ignore follow steps part. Does it say "At NVC" or "Ready" or something else?

Yes, I did. Here is what it returns:

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
At NVC
Immigrant Visa Case Number: KEV201957****

So as you can se, it states AT NVC.  It has been there since Feb 21.  everything I have read says it should only be 3 or 4 weeks processing before I get an email.  Hence my concerns.

Thanks all for your replies. I don't feel so alone going through this process.

As I can see, you're not familiar with how the K1 petition is processed.

You received your NOA 2 on Feb 21st. It takes an average of 4 weeks just for the petition to arrive at NVC. Plus another 4 for NVC to assign a case number and forward it to the embassy. That's why it still shows At NVC on your status. It will probably change to In Transit today or tomorrow, if not, only in 2 weeks from now.

You should go to the February 2019 NOA 2 to NVC thread, read the first post.

According to https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical the VJ average is 27 days from NOA2 to NVC Received, 17 days from NVC Received to In Transit, and 5 days from In Transit to received by consulate. So I kind of think the OP is right to be anxious (though they shouldn't panic, as they're not far outside of average processing time yet).
