The high amount of people being suckered is also very unfair but honestly as a somewhat logical left brained individual, I wonder, lady how the hell do you think this man/woman likes you. We are all beautiful thank God, but birds of the same feather flock together, get a grip date in your age group or close to it. Honestly, if I were a consule, I would feel disrespected if some odd pairing came in and he tried to insult my intelligence, in no way shape or form am I saying live doesn't occur within couples that have age gaps, my fiance and I do as well, but all within reason, with logic and feet firmly planted on the ground. There's no doubt that the CO has a job to do and some suffer because of others foolishness but I wish there was a better way. Today with this post my views gave changed a bit and I do see how and why things are the way they are eventho I don't necessarily agree. I'm sorry if I've been a bit harsh guys, but I can't stand to see this ridiculousness day in and day out. Does happen, I can think of a couple of examples of people I know where it seems an odd pairing, but yes pretty rare.

My husbands cousin asked to marry my husbands Aunt (cousin on fathers side aunt on mothers not related) she is 20 years older than him never married.  Now the family did not allow it (which is another story) but he made a decision on his own to pick a woman of his own culture that was much older.

When a person receives the DS form on a k1, does this mean that they have to wait for the investigation to be over before they can go back and get married if that's what they chose to do? Or is everything on pause until the background check is done?

You can marry and start over anytime. But it’s a complete reset - even the AP due to the DS-5535 will very likely need to be done again.

Thank you for this information, so to be clear, if a person was given the DS form and decided to marry, theywould more than likely be receiving it come interview time for the CR1 correct?

Yes. It’s not a guarantee (nothing with the DS is) but I would expect it.

If they needed to complete it the first time I can not think why they would not the second.

Most of the K-1s I have seen (at least in Morocco) who have been asked to submit the DS-5535 are eventually approved. I wouldn't risk stopping the process to get married, file CR-1 only to be asked to submit the DS-5535 again because it wasn't fully processed the first time, or so much time has past that they want to see a new form anyway.

That's what I thought, I asked because I am sure most people think that if they go back and marry that this will cancel that out, but I guess that's not the case.

It is a security check, still needs to be done no matter what the underlying petition is. It does not have a lifespan, not transferable, relevant to that application.
