The Trump administration says it will recognize the validity of Venezuelan passports for five years beyond their printed expiration dates.

The State Department announced Friday that the passports will be considered valid for visa applications and entry into the United States in recognition of a decision by the opposition-controlled National Assembly.

@jeka1700 @Mexrik @Daniela M_______ I'm still in shock.  Given the timing (Recent NOA2, and potentially an interview in July or August), the stress of the passport prorroga still not being delivered, and the uncertainty of the entire passport situation, this is a HUGE sigh of relief. 

 

I saw @Horty's message last night while I was on a video call with Claudia.  She kept asking me what I was doing, and I wanted to read the State Department memo before I sent her the translated message.

 

She burst into tears when I told her the news.

 

Although I kept telling her to be positive, to be faithful, to trust God, and to trust the process, I had NO idea of how to fix the situation.  I just kept working on it in three different ways, and kept praying.  Gracias a Dios.

 

I digress.

 

Now I have to figure out how to make sure that the TSA, DHS, Dept of State, and Employees at Tocumen International get the same memo and don't give us problems for the rest of this journey.  😲

This makes a lot of us happy, and yes now to ensure the Dept. Of State and all officials get the memo. The good thing is that it's clearly posted on their site. Now let's wait for our interviews.

Update! My fiancée got a call today from embassy asking information about her and me. Basic stuff like address l, telephone numbers, if had plans to travel currently and current work status, after that she was informed to stay alert for her care update! Not sure if that good or bad? @Horty @TandClaudia @TBoneTX @Daniela M_______

We finally got the email this morning stating that Claudia's Venezuelan Passport prorroga has been printed and is en route to the embassy in Panama.  It took exactly 3 months for her to be notified.  Hopefully this information is helpful to others.

On Friday, the Saime facebook page issued notice that prorrogas have been delivered to the Venezuelan Embassy in Panama.  Her name was on the list!

 

The ironic part is that she doesn't have her passport right now.  She had to give it to the US embassy to get her Visa stamped into it.  :-)
