PAC Fined $400,000 for Soliciting Donations from Chinese Billionaires

Talk about foreign collusion and election meddling look what happened to a Jeb Bush PAC.... We all know that PACs are supposed to be separate from the campaigns but in reality that is never the case.

Thanks to Citizens United...and this is the problem with the "corporations are people" argument. If corporations are people, do they need citizenships and passports so we can double check that they aren't foreign nationals donating to influence American elections? It's a mess.

I still believe it is people that make up corporations, and US corporations are impacted by the laws enacted by government elected officials, so in my opinion US corporations have a right to speak their minds politically.  The Intercept article was a little misleading in that it equated Citizens United with a non-US corporation funneling money to a PAC apparently beyond the rules.  I don't believe CU extended to foreign corporations, but it seems this article wants to make that connection.  The simple fact that it takes hundreds of millions of dollars to run for federal office now days is the real issue here, and those wishing to run for president have to find money from somewhere.  Now if you want to reverse CU, I would be fine with that as long as those political restrictions are also put on any organization that groups people (i.e. Labor Unions).

Absolutely, unions should not be considered "a person" either and should have restrictions.

I've always wondered why is this? Why does the cost keep going up and up? Certainly it's easier and arguably cheaper than ever to reach mass amounts of people thanks to the Internet and social media. Not like the old days when TV, newspapers and physically traveling around were the only option.
