I need help with Affidavit of support

My wife’s  parents are going to be joint sponsors, because my wife doesn’t meet the 125% of the federal poverty guideline since she has been traveling to be with me.

 

My parents in law fill tax return jointly,  

Do we need to submit one I-864 for each of them? 

 

How can we get the individual income from the tax return form?

Basically the only way to separate out the income is to go back to the actual W-2s or 1099s or whatever. My mother in law joint sponsored and fortunately, while she filed jointly, her income was "self-employment" income so it had its own form, and that made it easier.

I think, if you need the combined income to make up the difference, you will need to submit one form per person, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Correct. The petitioner must always provide an I-864.

You do NOT separate their income on the tax return.  For the tax section, their joint total income will appear on the I-864 and I-864a.  Only where "current income" is stated, will they separate their income.  For those sections, take current income from pay stubs, not tax returns unless one of them is self employed.
