hi guys! so I applied for the I-130 for my husband who is from Brazil. at the time we sent the documents in from off shore while living in Australia. we just got the notification from the NVC that they have opened our case and we can start to upload all the affadavit and documents to the portal. so the interview date has not been scheduled yet but the interview location is suppose to be in Australia, but our visa there expired and we had to leave. we are now living in his home country of Brazil and need to switch the interview to Brazil. does anybody have experience doing this? I have tried to call a bunch of times and the NVC nobody will pick up. any advice on this would be super appreciated. trying to get all these things done as soon as possible!

I would send written communication to NVC to transfer the case......if that fails, you will have to send written communication to both consulates to transfer.

thank you. I was able to get in contact with them and its a form that you have to submit online. thankfully. I think snail mail would be much slower, but who knows how long they will take to get back to me.. thanks for the reply.

We had the same problem. I am British but living in Cyprus. We selected Cyprus Embassy but in error the NVC allocated London Embassy. We called a bunch of times and emailed the NVC, we got extremely vague answers with no timescales. Instead we contacted the Cyprus Embassy and provided our incorrect case number, names and D.o.B etc. They then contacted the NVC on our behalf and we were allocated a new case number and Embassy within a day.  I would recommend contacting the Embassy you wish to be allocated and asking them to contact the NVC requesting the change.

Good Luck.

That’s the most helpful answer I’ve had! Thank you. I contacted NVC via the website ask forum and they haven’t gotten back to me. If I call the embassy that I want my interview at do you think I need to contact NVC again or it will just update in their system?

We had our interview transferred from Japan to Bangladesh consulate. I called NVC about it when the case number was assigned. Based on what they mentioned, we filled the AskNVC form with the needed information. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

They also asked a us to include a scan of the applicants passport.

We had our interview location changed in about 10 days after submitting the form.

Also, you don't need to wait till the interview location changed for paying fees and submitting AOS and other docs. They can happen in parallel.

We doubled up, so left an email logged with the NVC requesting a change and then emailed the Embassy on the generic email address. Cyprus is small so maybe we have a helpful Embassy but I suspect they immediately chased it up at the NVC

Once resolved you end up getting an email from the NVC with a new case number. (I’m assuming you’re electronic processing)

Sorry also forgot to mention, as suhridkhan has already said, continue with your application I.e paying fees, complete DS260 and uploading/submitting AOS and civil documents. It all gets transferred over to the new case number.

Ok I ended up submitting the enquiry on the NVC website as I stated above. I tried contacting the embassy in Brazil where we want to switch and they don’t answer any question on the phone, s so I e mailed them a request. Hopefully between the two we should get somewhere. Thank you so much for the help!!

NVC about one week later e mailed me back saying they transferred it. thanks guys for the help! I thought this process would be long and difficult, much to my surprise  it went very fast.
