What happens next, thinking ahead

I'm thinking way ahead here, as I only entered USA in November 2018.

I will need to remove conditions In two years time (90 days before) but what happens after that? Am I an LPR for life or for 10 years or do I apply for citizenship?

You are a permanent resident after you get the 10 yr card.  You just renew the card  every 10 years like you would a driving license.   You need to maintain your residency by living here.  If you choose to establish residency in another country you could abandon your residency by your actions

You never have to become a citizen,  that is a personal decision

Once your conditions are removed, you maintain permanent resident status until you:

  • Apply for and complete the naturalization process; or
  • Lose or abandon your status.

I would suggest for your next process which is the removal of conditions so start saving bank statements, utility bills, even car registrations and car insurance stuff now. Things that have both your names on it showing shared financial responsibilities and in general shared lives. If stuff doesn't have both your names on it see if it can be done, like leases and other bills. I was able to add my husband to our apartment lease when we lived there as well as the internet and phone bills. Took some convincing for the internet and phone bill until I stressed that it was for immigration purposes. How can they "not" be able to add a person's name? Can you really not or you just don't want to take the time, sir ma'a'm on the other end of this phone?

Look into establishing durable power of attorney and/or health power of attorneys for the both of you. They're good to have in life as well as looking good for immigration stuff.

As far as citizenship is concerned. You apply for it if you want to. We personally will take that route with my husband just so we don't have to deal with immigrations and green cards anymore and it will give us the freedom to travel to and from the US (in case we ever move out of the country one day) and not have to deal with getting visas since he's from a country that is very difficult to get a US tourist visa.

Way to think ahead! Always good to arm yourself with knowledge on what to expect. I visit this forum everyday to glean things.
