Good morning everyone! My fiance is Colombian but residing in Peru, so we originally requested Peru as the embassy on our I-129F. However, we would like to change the embassy to Colombia. Our I-129F has not been approved yet, it is still at USCIS (NOA1 in July).

However, I can't find solid information about 1) how to request this change from USCIS, and 2) if this will delay our process.

I would love to hear if anyone has requested this change successfully and how you did it! Thank you so much.

I don't think there is any formal method to make that change except to write a letter to USCIS.  I would also write letters to NVC and both embassies once I had an NVC number........will it delay your case?  Yes, probably....but more so if it arrives at the Peru facility.

I used AskNVC public online form to request a case transfer to another embassy. However, I have to wait for them to review my request email before they sent the case files to original embassy. I will update for you.

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from one Embassy to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, please contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and follow their instructions for case transfer. Please click here for the full list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

The old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for the New Embassy to process.

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your fee. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.

Thank you @Greenbaum. My case file has gone to the Sydney Consulate before NVC review my transfer request.

So What is the best option to contact new Embassy to request a transfer?

- Should I call them or just email?

- Do I need to wait until the case status changes to READY to make a request? Or I can contact New Embassy now?

- If you can, May I have the instruction to request a transfer? (Such as information and documents needed)

 Thank you so much!
