So i called NVC today and their agent (Nikki) told me that they received our case. She was nice. Also she told me about the usual "wait for 8 weeks" before getting a case number. Is it acceptable if i call them everyday? Because i saw a lot of people here doing the same thing. (NOA 2 november 13)

calling them every day will NOT give you a number faster and only clogs the phone lines for people who truly NEED assistance.

I keep wondering what I am missing that is to be gained by calling every day.  Are there countries that you can book an interview with a case number but no transfer to the embassy?  Case number essentially means you can complete your DS-160 and then sit on your hands until your case gets transferred (next shipment would be in two weeks)?

This is a serious question - am I missing something?

no. you're not.

its just people being impatient and clogging up phone lines thinking their case is more important than any other one out there.
