Long story short, came here on a CR1, had an ROC interview and became a citizen last Thursday. Passport in hand on Friday. 

 

Purged all those papers by Saturday. 

 

my journey is over. 

 

Before i I took the oath, I realised that I couldn’t find my 10 year green card. went to an infopass and was told it’s all good. I will be able to sign a sworn statement. Knowing USCIS, I couldn’t take their words at face value and worried all the way till I walked into my oath ceremony. 

 

When I was called to surrender my green cards, I told the officer I couldn’t find my 10 year card, to which he answered :” that’s ok, you don’t need it anymore.  Sign your initials here, NEXT!”

 

well, basically that’s it. No sworn statement, no trouble. Everything went smooth.

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Congrats! Two people at my ceremony actually got sent away for not having their green cards. One had lost his, the other said she didn’t know she had to bring it with her.

I’m sure it’s different for every office. I was just sharing what happened at mine. The USCIS officer was very apologetic about it but he had called the office and they told him they would have to be rescheduled.

Congrats on your citizenship. I also took my oath without greencard. Since I was still waiting on ROC to be completed, My local office destroyed my greencard when I got passport stamp as extension for ROC. I had to show my stamp and sign a sworn statement at the interview that I had not applied for a replacement. 
At my oath ceremony, they had lost that paperwork (yep USCIS at it's finest), however they asked me to sign another one on the oath day after showing my passport stamp again. No hassles.

06/01/18 - Interview - APPROVED

07/04/18 - July 4th Oath Ceremony.

How did you get the passport in one day? Did you have to provide a reason for needing one so quickly?

Yep.  If you are traveling out of the country within 2 weeks, you could expedite at the passport agency.
