A great day to all!

I'm currently in F1 visa, married to USC last year, petition, adjustment and application for work authorization were all received by USCIS on Mar. 1, 2018. Done with my biometrics too last April 3, 2018.

My school is telling me that I need to keep my F1 status until my interview, is the school right?

Thank you!

I applied for AOS while on F1 in November 2017. I graduated school this May, still waiting to hear back from USCIS for my interview.

I ended my F1 with school. While your application is pending you are legally waiting for their decision.

There is no need to maintain F-1 status. After terminating F-1 status you won't have legal immigration status but "authorized stay" allowed by the US Attorney General.

Your Input Is Appreciated On This VJ Guide Proposal:

Do you now have an EAD?

I do, unfortunately they made a mistake in dates and it will be valid from August so I'm waiting on that to find a job.

I agree with that.

You are good to wait without f1

Certainly advisable.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I waited 4 months to get it. Everything is so slow nowadays... I'm lucky I at least go it. I've seen that some people that applied didn't get it yet... such a mess.

Thank you for actively replying. Mine is 4 months last July 1, called USCIS and told me have to wait until Sep to call them back. Just keeping the faith and remaining optimistic. All the best! :)

They are really bad with that.

What I did is I submitted inquiry online here https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do

And It helped. It was months ago so I don't know how much help it would be to you but it's worth a try.

Not strictly necessary but if for some reason the AOS is denied, being in F1 gives you a fallback status while you sort it out.
