That was not a good idea to pay the full cost in cash...always use trackable payment methods.

Keep on him to get the tracking number, but this is sounding pretty fishy. Where did you find this lawyer? Was he a US immigration lawyer?

Do you have any paper trail? Because this sounds like you will not see your money or any NOA-1 at all. Normal processing is to have a G-28 if you are using an immigration lawyer. Sorry, that maybe to late now. Look into www.aila.org  for a real immigration lawyer.

I would seriously "ask" to see proof that he/she submitted all the documentation to the USCIS. Hopefully they did submit them but there have been cases in the past on here where the lawyer "forgot" to send them in until the OP said something to them.

did you reach out to the lawyer? where did you find this lawyer?

P.S: VJ Admin, in my line of work, we keep a database of shitlist company that may have scammed or may provide a bad solution or may have a bad reputation. That way people in our network are very well aware of the real reviews about those companies. Maybe VJ should consider having a forum called " LIST" where people can report the incident like these from lawyers, company, etc.

just my two cents

Keep all communication records with your current attorney and prepare to file a complaint to the state BAR, find a new attorney or file a new application package by yourself.

Keep a copy of all your submitted forms. And keep all copies of receipts.

If you're going to hire a new attorney, make sure the new attorney provides you with a retainer agreement. Sign a G-28 form to authorize the new attorney to have access to your case.

Keep the tracking number and make sure you receive notification that USCIS has received the package.

Now once your new AOS application is on the right track, see if you can reason with your previous attorney. If not, fire a complaint to the State BAR association. It doesn't guarantee you to have any results but that's the least you can do to protect yourself and others. If you need, provide negative reviews online may help you to feel better as well.

Remember, the most important thing is not to punish the incompetent attorney. The most important thing at this moment is to get your immigration journey back on track. Your status is probably more important than any paid money.

Sure he gave us a receipt of cash money that he received from us i called immigration customer service and was told nothing was filled on our names and there was no REF issued, As the lawyer told us we had a REF on the 30th of May when i got a call from him asking me to come to the office to sign a new form, because  immigration has rejected the one the was submitted as being out of date form on the 1st of june

We signed and returned these forms to  him so till date no receipt number nor notice of action has been received by us, i'm trying to file a case against this attorney  but don't really knows what will happen if i do so.........
