I am not sure what to say or how to explain it... I am trying to find answers to this... my fiance just got done with her exam today... everything she got exam for till she mentioned she was tested for an STD...I am wondering if this will deny her k1 visa? She has to go back the next day for treatment... and some were saying it could take two months for the treatment but we are on a deadline... what do I do?

i dont know. go based on what others tell you. having said that, i though they are only trying to keep major health issues out. Found this online.

 

What conditions would make you inadmissible on medical grounds?

• Individuals who are found to have a communicable disease of public health significance, including, chancroid; gonorrhea; granuloma inguinale; acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS); Hansen’s disease (infectious leprosy); lymphogranuloma venereum; infectious state syphilis; and infectious tuberculosis (Class A TB)

• Immigrant visa and adjustment of applicants who have not received all of the required vaccinations
• Individuals who have current physical or mental disorders, with harmful behavior associated with that disorder, or past physical or mental disorders, with associated harmful behavior that is likely to recur or lead to other harmful behavior
• Individuals who are found to be drug abusers or drug addicts

Certain medical conditions that pose a public health risk to others can result in a refusal until the issues are satisfactorily resolved.

The list of which ones exactly is available on the DOS website. I thought HIV/AIDS (along with some other STDs) were removed from this list a while ago (re: the above post sourced from RV).

A waiver may be available in some limited cases, although it's almost always faster to get treated than process the waiver...not to mention treatment actually resolves the underlying issue.

thank you for responding.... She was telling me someone told her while sheis being treated could take two months.. but wasnt a doctor that said that... so i dont really buy it... as long its beign treated.. thats fine..

Personally, I'd go and get some testing done too. And if found clean, then I'd reconsider the whole visa process, depending on what STD was found from the partner.

1- most STDs are pretty easy to treat

 

2- my larger concern was why you didnt know and when she contracted it.

 

I know for myself, Ive been with Paul 2 and a half years now, and had 2 physicals (1 just before we met and then one the following year) that included STD testing. I know im clean. If hes not ... he didnt get it from me :/

HIV was dropped almost a decade ago as a reason for denial medically as long as you can show the ability to not become a public charge for treatment.   As far as your timeline being blown ,  stuff happens.
