I submitted the I-129F back in late January 2018 and we have been waiting on the NOA 2 for almost 4 months now.  However,  we are getting worried that they may denied it since we got engaged the first time we met.  I asked her to marry me shortly before I left the airport to fly back home.  At that time we had been talking for 5 months when I flew there to see her.  Now we have been talking for almost 1 year and are excited to get married and for me to come back again on her interview date.  But we are both worried we will be denied since we got engaged soon after we met in person.  We read on this link that may raise a red flag:  https://rapidvisa.com/3-most-common-reasons-for-fiance-visa-denials/ Does anyone think I need to be worried or we should be ok?

Just to give you an idea about wait times, they are currently about 25% of the way through November cases.  They will probably get to at least 50% before started on December and then work on the rest of November and do more of December, etc... I would estimate around the 1st or 2nd week of July for them to start processing January cases.

Engaged too soon?  No way.  I met my now wife on-line in July of 2012.  I first visited her in late August 2012.  I married her in the Philippines, Lapu Lapu to be specific, 7 days after meeting her in person for the first time.  I visited her two more times before her Embassy interview.  I was also there at the embassy interview with her.  No one questioned why we got married so quickly.  They did question why she didn't have a birth certificate until after I met her and that was easily explained.  Additional info:  I was 54 and she was 19 when we got married.  That was not even a problem.  I think the CO's are pretty sharp at judging whether relationships are genuine.  Good luck, and if I were you I would attend the interview with her in Manila.  Good luck and most of all, God bless   David

Don't start worrying just yet. We filed in October 2017 and didn't get our approval until April 13th, 2018 it was just shy of 6 months. The whole process from beginning to visa in hand was taking anywhere from 8-12 months when we applied. I couldn't imagine it's changed to much.

Don’t lose heart. My fiancé and I have been talking to one another for over 2 years and when we first met he proposed to me on the last day. Although we’ve been talking longer, as long as you’re able to prove through your letter of intent to marry the legitimacy of your relationship I think you should be fine. I’ve heard of many different scenarios but the worst thing you can do while on this journey is to worry about everything.

Make sure you prepare for everything. Saving the money for fees, medical exams and trips. Have all the documents and study the questions to prepare your fiancé for the interview. As long as you know you’re doing this for honest reasons and you want to be together that’s all that matters.

Yea don't stress. We had literally 8 days together one time, got through the whole process no issues. By time you got to interview stage you'd have built up a lot of relationship time, even if not necessarily in person. Wouldn't worry right now about that.

Yeah you're right.  We are just getting frustrated about waiting is all. It is definitely hard, but we are making it through.

Definitely no need to worry yet for a time frame. We didn't get out application touched until 6 months after the NOA1 with an RFE, now waiting 3 weeks after we sent back the paperwork. I would plan a good 6-8 months to be safe from time of NOA1-NOA2 it is definitely a longer waiting period than a year or two ago.

Yikes!  What did you get an RFE for?  I hope we do not get one.  I know if I got one in the mail it would be hard for me to tell my fiance that we have to wait even longer as I have to resubmit additional evidence.

Your story is just like ours and we had no issues on the process. Our POE is May 30th! This place is a wonderful resource with many knowledgeable and experience individuals 😇

What is POE?  This is a great place for information for sure.

Honestly...stop worrying for one it does no good..secondly like others have said the Philippines embassy rarely turns couples away for this reason, maybe for an incomplete packet or missing something. You will be fine, my wife and I met online and we were engaged on our second visit (they were only like 3 months apart and about 7 months from the time we met online. We had no issues and everything has gone very smoothly without even one incident.

I hear you about not having enough time to take off from work, it kinda sucks...but enjoy the time you do. That is great that you plan on being with her during the interview, that is always a good thing. Do you also plan on flying back with here once she gets the visa?

I hear ya. Its just hard to worry some.  Its always in the back of my mind at least.  I do plan to fly back with her once she gets the visa, the only think though is I can only stay about 10-12 days from the interview.  I am not sure if that is enough time to get the visa and try to get her on the same flights as me back to the USA.
