Well, we spent about an hour at the DMV yesterday. Got there a little after 7am (did you know some locations are now open at 7am?!). We filled out the app, and went up to renew our license. The clerk took my wife's paperwork and went to a back room. She came back shortly and told us that unfortunately we could NOT renew because the EAD had not yet expired. We have to come back the DAY AFTER it expires (which also happens to be the day before the interview date) in order to renew it, and she'd only renew it for 60 days at that time. We'd have to then come back EVERY 60 days to renew it again. Bummer for us...

Wow... that is weird... I got the temporary DL for 60 days, but I think the actual card will have longer time than that. I went to DMV in Hayward, which is open on Saturday too. You can take a shot if you want. Good luck

Update: I just successful renew the Driver License with almost expired EAD and receipt for renewal EAD. Here is supporting documents:

1. Identity Document: (must be original, keep it in mind) expired/valid EAD and i797C for renewal i765

2. Social Security Document: (should be original as well) W2 form (can use Social Security card instead)

3. California Residency: (copies accepted) bank statement, phone bill and car title (just need two separate documents, USICS receipts cannot be accepted)

Good luck guys !!!

Thanks so much for the update @QN&CD

Hi guys, I received an alert via SMS and email on July 13, 2019 that my I-485 application status had changed to "Interview Was Scheduled". No! Was actually 6 months before, but that system is not that great. Even at my interview I ask the officer if she can verify my new address and she saw the wrong one in the system. After that the only thing that came to my right address was my greencard. The rest of approvals from petitions they where forwarded from my old address even after the officer change in her system.

Yeah, this was El Cerrito. Were' really only a few weeks away, so we'll just deal with it then...I hope you're right about the card not expiring for a while!! I'll keep Hayward in mind next time we need to try!

Update: this morning my status changed to "Case is ready to be scheduled for an Interview". I assume my location is San Francisco.

Please share your experience if you can:

1. When  should I expect the status to change to "Interview Scheduled" ?

2. After changing to "Interview Scheduled", when should I expect the interview date might be ?

I need to plan some international travels so it would be great if I have more information. Thanks guys

I’m still waiting for the interview notice by mail. It’s been almost three weeks since I got the status change alert via sms/email. Fingers crossed.

By the way, have you received your green card today as expected?

Hi guys, quick question about medical exam. If someone already completed the interview, please advise.

I applied i485 along with medical exam in April 2018, my interview date is September 2019 (more than 1 year since applying). I am converting from F1 visa. Location: San Francisco

Do I need to make a new medical exam and bring it to the green card interview?

Many thanks.

You're right. After calling USCIS Level 1 many times and having been asked to wait 30 days and told that the address was correctly maintained in the system, I decided to call USCIS and this time talked to Level 2 officer yesterday morning, and the officer said it was mailed out on July 18th! (!!) but I still haven't received it, and that she was requesting to have it resent by mail. I asked her why that happened - she said she had no idea though the address is maintained correctly to my current one.

Then yesterday evening, I received an email from USCIS containing the attachment of the Interview Notice Letter with a watermark COPY. Guess what... the address printed on that copy is the old address that I already filed an address change since September 2018. **sigh**

This morning, I called USCIS and talked to another Level 2 officer again - the officer said I could print that attachment out to bring to the interview which is on August 19th, 2019. Then I asked him why the old address was printed on that interview notice and if that would cause a trouble. He said there are two USCIS systems, and that doesn't matter, just print it out (???). **sigh 2nd time**

Nevertheless, at least now I can attend the Interview, I'll verify the address again with the Interviewing Officer to make sure they will mail the green card to the right address. Hopefully there won't be any extra 'surprise'. It's hard to believe technical things like this can happen in America especially in the year-long mature government system... but it does!
