The receipt number is invalid in CASE STATUS ON LINE

I am a US citizen and filed I-130 for my wife in January 2018, I got the paper notice. I try to check my case status on line using the receipt number. Unfortunately, it said invalidation error(s). It appears that the receipt number is not in their system. Have any of you encountered the same problem? It is very strange, isn't it? My I-129F was closed because the applicant or petitioner received a status or benefit through other means. My case is now in Nebraska.

 

How can I do next? Thank you very much!

People from August 2017 have been having this issue, it seems to be resolved once their case has been touched. I'm currently a January filer for I-130, but sent to Texas and my number still doesn't work as of this morning. Other I-130's near my number are given status' but not mine.... If you got the hard copy, that's your notice of them getting your petition. You’re still good to go. Start calling them in July for any updates.

Seems to be a very common problem.  You can keep checking, some show up eventually, many don't.  Mine doesn't show (October 2017 filer) I have called and after a few attempts got a tier 2 officer, who assured me the application was being processed. And, encouraged me to call back every few weeks to check the status. 

Seems to be a glitch in the system in recognizing cases by number or something.

This use to happen to me than I realized I was using the incorrect number. As silly as that sounds the case number should start with 3 letters. Not sure if that is your case but it happens

I tried mine with the other center letters as a just incase, and still got the same error.

Mine eventually showed but took over two months. Saying that though I've read on here that some people seem to never have their work, even after having the application approved.

Hey, don´t worry, my case number never worked untill last March 13 they issued RFE, I´m August filer too at NSC, don´t even try to send an inquiry about that (because is going to be waste of time) we submitted 2 inquiries (1 by phone ) (1 by e-mail ) the one in the phone answered that NO NEGATIVE IMPACT STRIKED OUR CASE, THE CASE NUMBER SHOULD BE WORKING SOON (This inquiry was on December, 4 months after NOA1), and the other one was in early February, via e-mail and never received an answer!

Don´t worry, the case number usually works from 45 days to 3 months after NOA1, if after taht doesn´t works, forget about it, and try to check the times in one of the USCIS case trackers apps, and when you realize that are being aprovals near your date, start checking it in My Case Status.

For example: One VJ member received aproval and then 1 week later thecase number started to work, in my case I discovered that we got a RFE  when suddenly the case number started to work!
