2018 J1 WAIVER TIMELINE

Hi guys!

I think I have a big big problem. I am in Italy and I applied for a J1 waiver based on NO and I've got the favorable recommendation from DoS on May 23. I received the copy by mail on June 6. It's been three months and I've never received neither the I797 nor the waiver itself. I went to American Consulate in Italy by they cannot help me, then I tried to call the USCIS and they cannot help me as well because I do not have the receipt number that I would have found on the I797. I have two questions:

- Does the Uscis send the documents to the same address used by DoS?

- What should I have done after receiving the favorable recommendation? Should I have filled any other form?

- What do you recommend to do?

Thank you in advance to anyone who will be able to help me!!!!!

Hello,

USCIS can still help you. I gave them a call and told them I filed an I-612 through the department of state (DOS) but never got the I797 through the mail and thus have no receipt number. They asked me for a bunch of personal information and then gave me the receipt number. They will also tell you what address they have on file. For me they had the wrong address somehow and also lost my G28 form which authorized my lawyer to also receive all the relevant letters. Make sure you reach a representative and start the conversation with we filed an application but never received form i797 and it has been over a month,

I hope this helps

Hello all,

How much time is the DOS taking now a days to update their website when the embassy sends them NOC.

Mine NOC was sent on August 21st and there is no update on DOS website yet.

When I contacted DOS they said that I should ask the embassy to fax the NOS directly to their office.

Let me know how long it took for you guys to get the NOS updated

Mine took 1 month, and I emailed them after the second week and took them another 2 weeks to update the system.

wish you luck.
