Wait so you have to wait for a date? My case said ready yesterday so I just picked a date to secure a spot. I didn’t even wait for packet 3. Did I do something wrong. I just assumed I would have it before my medical and interview. Also please tell me how to book a medical

Also - note that I am out of place here - while you are all in the K1 process I am in the IR2 process, which is different, though similar.   This is the closest thing to thread of people I can find with things in common.   For K1 you select your date.  I believe for IR2, NVC and the embassy work together and SCHEDULE you your date for you - there are many threads of IR1/2 people frustrated that it can sometimes take months for them to schedule all while K1's are indicating the embassy has open interview spots.....

So to your comment MadamMaison - I don't think emailing the embassy will help  - I dont think  they have even been sent our case yet - NVC keeps asking for new documents one at a time - almost on week two of waiting for them to approve the marriage certificate, the last document they asked for - They started reviewing our documents in late november

My fiances medical is tomorrow!! I can't believe it. Interview is in 3 weeks. It's all starting to wind down now. This saturday she will leave cape town for the last time as she heads to joburg in preparation for the actual interview. I try to not get too excited about it because i know there are still some things left to get through, but its definitely the beginning of the end!!!

I will let everyone know how the medical goes after i talk to her tomorrow.

Medical was completed in Cape Town today. She said the appointment was at 830 and by the time it was all done it was already 230. Lots of waiting...

Basically they did the exam (some basic questions such as mental health, medical past , etc...), gave her 2 vaccines and drew 2 vials of blood. After she had to go to a nearby hospital for the xrays. After she waited for a little and got the Xray results, she went back to the Dr office and handed them off. She was informed that there were no issues and she is free to move onto the next step.

All that's left is the interview now!!!!!

I think I am going to cry -

The NVC which had given us problems around my stepdaughters birth certificate, but then accepted the document we uploaded, has now come back and said even though it is accepted, they are now rejecting it saying its not from the correct issuing authority - BUT IT IS!

My soon to be step son is South African. Is yours as well? If so would you mind explaining a bit more about what happened? Im so nervous about his paperwork as well. I can totally understand your frustration! It's exhausting!

No, My step daughter is Mozambican, but the embassy in Maputo does not process immigration applications, so we have to go through the Consulate in Jozy

Guys if you’re on medical aid, try submitting the medical invoice after. We did that not expecting anything but we got about half the cost back! Worth a shot. Good luck to all of you.

@LuFloladyif it’s still dr brauer in CPT, they gave us an estimate of their cost when we booked, plus the cost of the X-rays which, if procedure is still the same, will be done at CTMC.

Thank you...they gave us an estimate too but we were just curious as to how much they paid since it was just yesterday
