Hi everyone! K1 Visa applicant couple here.

My fiancé has to update his police clearance certificate with the US Consulate in Johannesburg as the one he previously submitted has expired. We emailed the consulate and they have said that we need to courier the document via DHL but gave us no further information about how to ensure that the updated document is added to his case file.

Has anyone had any experience with mailing documents to the consulate?

We were going to send to the address they have listed online with an "Attn" line added

Attn: US Immigrant Visa Department

1 Sandton Dr

Sandhurst, Johannesburg, 2146

South Africa

We were also going to include a cover sheet inside the envelope with the police certificate that states our case number and my fiancé's name and passport number

Do you guys think this is sufficient? We're probably overthinking this, but we just want to make sure the new police certificate ends up in the right hands as it took several weeks to receive!! Appreciate any help :)

My wife (fiance' at the time), also had to send her Police Certificate after her interview to the consulate.  Include your cover letter and you'll be fine.

We are doing well. Married back at the beginning of March. Sent our AOS back in April and had it shot back to us to re-send again May. Also had an RFIE. 🙄 Was not on our game as much compared to the first part of the process. All is well now and we are preparing info to try and expedite our EAD card. Hindsight, I would have done the K2/CR1 process, but not the end of the world. We are making it and so happy to be together.

Happy to hear you're moving along swiftly! What did you get an RFE for if I may ask? I'm about to send my AOS off and am worried I don't have everything together, despite doing a bunch of research. Hope you get your EAD expedited!

We are doing it on the basis of financial loss with the subreasoning that he has received a job offer. I’m not hinging on getting it, but right now I see no harm in trying since we are pass the 100 day mark.

I didn’t show enough proof of my income. Which to me was valid. However, I was under the understanding that since I had a co-sponsor I didn’t need to do the whole 9-yard of proving my income. Not true. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also for his (the beneficiary) birth certificate. Didn’t understand this one. We just sent another copy. A lot of people in my month’s AOS thread got this RFIE and did the same.

Will do! We were on the phone for an hour last night starting the expedite process. Just waiting for them to contact us with info of where to send our evidence. Trying to see what additional information I can provide in addition to the job offer.

We're doing great as well.  We were married May 4th and also completed biometrics for AOS.  Our EAD and AP estimates are late December!  I've read that some folks don't have to do an interview for their AOS, have you heard of that happening?

Hi all.

We sent out our petition on the 9th August 2019

We recieved the letter 797c on the the 19th August 2019.

Is this the NOA1?

I looked up the receipt number and it showed form g-28 was rejected (we are using a lawyer)

The lawyer has since redone the g-28.

But now if I check the receipt number it doesn't show anything? What would that mean?

Is this the only way to keep track of what's happening?

We now need to wait 5+ months for the NOA2?
