whenever there's a mass shooting and the mdl starts talking about ...'how many times does this have to happen before we up our gun control' the response from the right is 'enforce the existing gun control'. but when it comes to illegal immigrants and crime, the fact that we deport criminals and don't offer any sort of amnesty for criminals is completely ignored. the right can't entertain even a convo about strengthening gun control laws but we can flush 20 billion on a wall no questions asked..and never mind mexico paying for it.

Not really a valid comparison.  There are many gun control laws on the books, but the Southern border is very porous.  Let’s secure the border, then we can make the comparison.  Otherwise I am not sure that offering this guy amnesty would have really changed anything.

it most certainly is a valid comparison. it would be invalid if there weren't already border control, and plenty of it. and clearly you misunderstand my comment concerning amnesty, but i'm sure that was intentional.

The current border control and the gun laws currently on the books are not on par with each other.  Not sure how to misunderstand a comment regarding amnesty in reference to a criminal deported multiple times, but please enlighten me to how that comment applies to the OP.

if the laws were the same "on par" why would there be a need for comparison in the first place. that's silly.

i wasn't suggesting that if the op was offered amnesty something would have turned out 'different' - which is what you said. i brought up amnesty and deportation because i've so often heard supporters of the wall go on about open borders and amnesty as if that's already the law. we deport criminals who are not here legally, we don't allow visas/green cards for criminals..supporters of the law speak as if the opposite were true. like obama wasn't the deporter-in-chief..like we've just come off of eight years of open borders. that simply isn't true.

If the perp in a mass shooting had  been arrested and convictrd of mass shootings 3 times and still allowed to rampage on, it would be a very fair comparison.  Otherwise its a silly analogy

im comparing the response from a particular ideology, not a specific crime or act. gee, why don't supporters of the wall want to talk about their conflicting responses..hmmm

Sorry but this comment CLEARLY shows me you have never been to the southern border and know absolutely bare minimum about it .

In the county where I live you can follow along the border wall or fence and at a lot of points it randomly just ends. No wall no nothing you simply walk across . Now you think this is out in the desert only . No also along roads etc. Not big ones but dirt roads .

You cant compare these two things . The one is a law and in the constitution and will never be changed . The other one is someone breaking current laws and then having them not properly enforced .

And lets play this mind game and think how many  lifes these 400.000USD worth of meth destroy in comparison to the same amount of money in guns . Keep in mind there are more guns in the USA then people ( hundreds of millions)

When again a muslim terrorist kills a dozen people with a rented car , you wont ask for the ban of rental cars and also will say 99.9 percent of muslims are good people . ( very wrong , you think the millions of women and gays in saudi arabia are free and happy I dont think so but lets pretend )

So why dont you afford the same logic to guns ?

Considering how porous the border is and how many illegal immigrants currently in the US along with their minor children, it seems there is already a form of amnesty present.  We keep hearing we need to do something about DACAs and possibly their parents so they don't have to hide in the shadows, but everyone seems to forget that this only encourages more infiltrations across the border illegally.  To use your comparison from your first post, let's say that we already have enough immigration and gun laws present and the problem is simply enforcement.  Well, let's start enforcing these immigration and gun laws instead of making new laws just to feel good.

i can make the comparison, and I want to thank you both for beautifully exemplifying my point.

It would be nice if you actually elucidated a point.

The whole amnesty comment?  By the way, how do you compare a constitutional guarantee with a law passed by a congressional act?
