Advise in gathering Police Records

Good morning friends:

 

In my preparation to NVC stage I´m trying to have all the required documents ready for that step.

 

But my question is this:

 

About the police records my case is this.

I´m from Cuba, but living in Bogota Colombia permanently since March 21 2017. I left Cuba at my 27 years old. So next March 21 i´m going to be here 1 entire year here, also my application was from the begginingin here in Bogota and placed in NSC ( 5 1/2 months since P.D).

When I´m going to assemble the NVC package they require Police Certificate, but "It is said that (If you re living in another country for 12 continuously months or more, for the process NVC stage and Embassy Interview I will only need the Colombian Police Record since I´m living here and no longer in CUBA...

This is my question and really thanks in advance for your answers and readings!

according to NVC site you must provide a police certificate for each country you have ever lived in.

so from what I read you will need to get one from both countries, if I am reading it right.

What Im reading here means that In my case exposed above I only have to submit the Colombian ones right?

 

Police Certificates

 

If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a photocopy of a police certificate from all countries you have lived in using below criteria:

If you ...			AND you...			THEN submit a police certificate from...
Are 16 years old or older			Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life			Your country of nationality
Are 16 years old or older			Have lived in your country of current residence (if different from nationality) for more than 6 months			Your country of current residence
Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more			Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there			The country where you used to live.
Were arrested for any reason, regardless of how long you lived in that city or country, and no matter what age you were						The city and/or country where you were arrested.

You also need to submit a Cuban police certificate. Above the paragraph you quoted, it says (and it doesn't matter that you don't live there anymore, but you DID live there for more than 6 months in your life): 

 

Are 16 years old or older

Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life

Your country of nationality

And yes I lived there more than my 16 years old, but not anymore living there!

 

It doesn't matter, you are a national from that country and you were there for over 6 months anyways.

It means you need both, from Colombia and from Cuba

yes but you lived there for more than 12 months past the age of 16 , so you will need to get one from your home country and another from the country you are currently living in.

Now my question is this, and that´s not explained there in the site and not in the : U.S. Visa: Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country 

I have one in my power, it´s from November   6th but 2016, I moved here in March 2017, will it serve, the fact of traveling here means that between November 2016 and March 2017 no criminal act was commited by me , asking for one now in Cuba will serve, but can I use that one that I have?

if your referencing back to the police certificate they are only valid for 1 year, so 1 year from the time you got it, it would have expired and you must get another one that will still be valid at the time it comes to submit to NVC.

You need to send BOTH police certificated. CUBA AND COLOMBIAN.

Even when the same police certificate from Cuba says valid for 6 months only!

With this final advise yes, I´m going to ask one from Cuba when I reach 10 months (my case is in NSC) and one from here from Colombia, for NVC, for the Interview, I´m going to ask one from Colombia again, more recent, it´s online and requires only 3 seconds!
