@starsky No explanation on the DL being just 1 year, but I'm just gonna assume it's because of the 1 year extension letter. I'm actually surprised people get DL's that last longer! It's a pain in the ### but hopefully by then I might have the 10 year card? Or be applying to become a citizen if I can afford the fee

I actually think that is a pretty good theory. To test it, perhaps we could ask a few of those who do have scheduled biometrics appointments if they have been out of the US since they entered on their original visa?

When I saw the original post, I was going to say that I haven't left the US, and then I remembered that I did leave the US when my hubby and I had our church wedding in the Philippines, and when we went on our cruise about a year and a half ago.  So this theory might be plausible.

I do have a question though, since most of us February filers are getting our biometrics already (or lack of 😂😂), so does this mean that we are just waiting for the actual10 year green card? and then apply for our citizenship  early next year?

My theory is if you been out of country and come back by using your green card in last  2 years, you don’t have to go to the appt. I could be wrong but I went back to my home country twice for the past 2 years. And they scan me every time I come back to the states

I think that makes sense. My AOS biometrics appointment was in December 2014 and for AP and EAD renewal I don't think I had to do biometrics. 3.5 years seems like a long time for them to not renew fingerprints/photo but I've traveled abroad after receiving my GC so that has to be it then.

That is certainly a possibility.  My wife & I went on a Caribbean cruise out of Tampa this past March and received the biometric's letter this past Friday to be fingerprinted at the Tampa office on May 25th.  When we applied for the original green card my wife had to be fingerprinted twice because the FBI couldn't read her prints.  She had to swear under oath and sign a document during our interview in Chicago because of this.  So we're still in the dark as to the true reason for her having to undergo another biometric's appointment when so many others are not.  We're just happy that there's movement out of the CSC, but frustrated because in our minds this should be a fairly simple process for everyone who's had a conditional green card.

Yes, it's possible, I suppose. When I renewed mine here in Texas last year and used my green card (which was expiring this April) they still renewed for 5 years. Weird how State to State it differs.

They still have to process our applications in full, review all of our submitted information and possibly request an interview. We are a ways from that point now, probably 10-14 months away based on the activity of other filers from last year. We are also not out of the woods yet in terms of RFE/RFIEs, either. So definitely some caution at this stage not too get overly excited. Progress is good, especially when it was looking so bleak for us Cali filers, but there's a way to go yet... the "current" reality is that most of us will be up for citizenship before we even get our 10-year GCs.

Wow what a difference!I am so excited for every CSC filer right now. I haven't left the country since moving here from Australia so I guess that could be a good theory as to why I have an actual appointment with USCIS and they're not reusing my old ones.

Hi Everyone! My husband received his Biometrics letter this weekend. It is for 5/25/2018. Two things - #1. I see most of the CA applicants received letters stating they are "Re-using Biometrics" should we be worried that they did not do that for our case? I feel like we are one of the only ones who has to go in. #2. My husband just has to bring his passport and Biometrics letter to appointment correct? Should he also bring his expired GC and extension letter? Glad to see things moving along. :)

Theres nothing to worry about, I'm a CSC filer who has to go in, not to mention every VSC filer had to go in for biometrics. There is probably a very simple explanation(As they had a large backlog). If it was anything to be worried about they would inform you, by a scary looking letter. You're supposed to carry those things around anyway so it won't hurt to take them IMO. :)

Hi guys,

My husband received his biometrics appointment letter, scheduled for May 24th. Of course, this happens to be a day we will be flying to another city, so we are looking at options for rescheduling. I see that we can send in the letter to reschedule, but we can make it to the ACS office on May 22nd. Do you think they will let us do the biometrics early? I scheduled an infopass appointment for the 22nd, I understand infopass appointments are different than biometrics, but in our case, they take place at the same office (Milwaukee)

Should I send in the letter to reschedule, or keep it and try getting the biometrics done at the infopass appointment? If we can't get it done at the info pass appointment can I still send the letter to reschedule even if it's only2 days before the original appt?

I called the number on the letter to ask but the first agent hung up on my (since I wasn't my husband) and the second agent told me my husband could call and reschedule on the phone, is that true?

Any advice would be appreciated.

*~Meghan~*
