So you knew it was a fake headline?

get over yourself and report it if it's that big a deal to you. immigrant doesn't have to imply anything about legality.

ICE agents detained two men in Middlesex County Thursday morning and a third fled to the Reformed Church of Highland Park where he will be sheltered from the government.

“We are just here trying to achieve our dreams, working hard, provide for our family,” said Harry Pangemanan, who said he spotted ICE agents in undercover cars outside his home as he was about to drive his daughter to school.

He ran inside the house and refused to open the door. His pastor came and recorded on camera the agents knocking on the door.

“We had one night when 35 dads were taken in one night from Avenel, New Jersey, from the same apartment complex. I had 60 kids become orphans that night or become fatherless,” Rev. Seth Kaper-Dale said.

ICE arrested Gunawan Liem, of Franklin Lark, Thursday after he dropped his daughter off at the bus stop. Roby Sanger of Metuchen was detained after he brought his daughters to school.

You said he visited and overstayed, how is that an Immigrant?

again, immigrant doesn't have to imply legality. i take it this hyper focus on the word 'immigrant' is a distraction from the humanitarian aspect of these deportations and the effects on us citizen children, which is not something often discussed here.

Of course it does, big difference between somebody who immigrates and somebody visiting.

i don't consider 12 years a visit.

so what about the children of this guy, who are us citizens? is anyone thinking of the cost in terms of the outcomes of these us citizens?

Lots of foreign nationals have children born in the US, I assume these children are dual citizens, you forgot to mention that.

When they reach 21 they  can sponsor Parents, well CIR may change that but that is the current law.

children need their parents before the age of 21, not after. is the us prepared to take on the costs of all these newly orphaned children? certainly raising them is going to cost a good chunk.

could get pretty costly...if the point is getting people off welfare i mean, this is a counterproductive way to go about it.

The CMS report finds that so-called “mixed-status” households — where some members are undocumented and others are U.S. citizens — would be hit particularly hard.

Removing undocumented residents from those families would cut median household income nearly in half, from $41,300 to $22,000, and this sharp decline could force many into poverty.

CMS researchers also conclude that the nation’s housing market would be hit hard, as 2.4 million mortgages are held by undocumented immigrants.

The country’s gross domestic product, or GDP, would also suffer, facing a loss of $4.7 trillion over a decade. Three quarters of a million undocumented workers are self-employed.

Additionally, the CMS report finds that even if just one-third of U.S.-born children of undocumented immigrants remained in the country after a mass deportation, the cost of raising them after their parents are deported would total $118 billion.

There are nearly four million “mixed status” households in the country, and almost seven million U.S.-born citizens share a home with at least one undocumented immigrant; in most cases, a parent. Of those seven million, more than 70 percent are children under 18.
