Now if they have probable cause, fine or if they are crossing a border fine.

Actually your chances are just as good if you are in the area. I absolve you of your white guilt

Because we live in a country that protects against unreasonable search. When you give random  officers such broad authority, abuse is soon to follow. That is why our founding fathers found it so important to include that in the constitution. Example.. Look at that bus of hippies. Lets stop them and hassle them for a while, with no probable cause.  I believe in Nazi Germany they had to stop and show papers.

Probable cause could be as simple as looking for illegal immigrants. If we are going to check IDs on a bus in Ft Lauderdale, we should check IDs in Kansas City, Omaha, Rapid City too. Assumption of illegal immigrants could only be found within a 100 mile proximity from a border is dumb.

So you ok with a law enforcement agency , having the right to stop and search you , just cause ?

Are we talking about searching personal belongings and/or full body search or just IDing? I'm fine with IDing. Other types of search I'm with reasonable cause.

Have you ever had your car dismantled driving across the border?

Not dismantled but fully searched once by Canadians. I was going to Toronto for a weekend alone. They took 15-20mins.

I was sent to secondary, if I remember three times, by CBP. Two of those three was when I was LPR, their stupid computer system showed my long-time expired student visa was still active. It even was the case after I became US citizen, I finally managed to correct it by DHS TRIP. None of them took more than 5 mins wait but was just annoying.

I agree with Val on this one. That kind of broad power, gives way too much authority to target and will lead to abuse.

I don't want illegals here either , but let's do it the right way

I dunno what the right way is. Catch them when they enroll their kids to school or when they go to a doctor's office for treatment?

Well if the law is setup right in the future, there will be no enrollment in school.

I just don't want law enforcement to have the right to demand you provide is at their whim, currently that is the law of the land

Schumer said he was not going to allow funding the wall.

this wall nonsense is ridiculous. why not spend that however many billions of dollars on cpb/ice and strengthening/enforcing current law? the wall isn't going to do anything for overstays or those with the means to circumvent (cartels).

crazy that anyone who considers themselves a conservative wants to literally flush billions down the toilet for a wall when that money could actually go towards something productive.

They used to have a checkpoint on the I-5 freeway right around Camp Pendleton area back in 2003. But when I moved there in 2012 it was already gone and the "Agriculture Checkpoint" is still there for trucks though. You mostly see it coming up on from El Centro on either side of the Salton Sea. The Western checkpoint is great because a majority of the time they will just wave you through after looking in the vehicle. All the while the Eastern side is where I have had the most problems out of CBP. I don't know why that is really, it could be because that side doesn't see near enough the traffic like the other side does or they are just bored. But I have had the stupidest time on that side and I have been stopped at least twice having to answer additional questions. I don't know if it's because I am driving a big Federal vehicle or I am speeding but it really pisses me off.

How? If they ask everyone how is that profiling?

Yeah but the worst thing Cal AG would do us take your oranges, not throw you in detention and deport you.
