7 Months and no EAD/Work Permit!?

Hi all - I am at 7 months now without my work permit which I filed on May 5 2017, I have rung USCIS and raised 3 service requests, no response to any of them and have also had an Infopass appointment where they told me this is normal for EAD's now.  What have people done in the past to help speed things up?  Apparently there is nothing wrong with my paperwork and it is all in order, I received the receipts and all.  This was based on a K1 visa as well.

Hi KristyD!

Sorry that is happening to you. One silly question, I looked into your timeline and you detail the dates for your I-485 application, but not for the EAD application (I-765). Which one are you referring to? Like, that kind of response from USCIS would be something I would expect for the green card (I-485) but not for the EAD.

I don't see any RFE/RFIEs in your timeline, but I'll ask anyway to be sure. Did you get one, and if so, how long did it take to respond?

USCIS aims for 90 days for the EAD to be adjudicated (not counting RFE times), but is typically taking ~4 months right now. Seven months is well beyond their normal processing timelines.

Unfortunately, there's no way to make it go faster. However, I would suggest submitting another service request and then contacting your state's senior federal senator to make an inquiry as well.

Good luck. That EAD timeline is definitively unusual. Please keep the thread updated.

Hi there - No RFE's requested.  I have sent an Inquiry on the USCIS website today and also contacted the states congressman to see how that goes.

Dont want to sound rude or anything but why did you wait this long to contact congressman.

After 75- 90 days you start contacting USCIS with SRs and if its not there by day 120 you contact the congressman asap . Crazy I already went nuts after 75 days not being able to work or do anything . 7 months just wow.

Because I had rung a number of times and spoken with my attorney and apparently this is normal processing times in tampa at present however I am fed up with it so I decided to go to a higher party.
