Interview was surprisingly easy. Only the regular immigration questions ("have you ever committed any crime"/"have you ever lied to obtain a visa in the U.S."/etc). They did not ask for any additional documentation or proof of relationship. The officer was polite and made me sign at the end of the application and told us we were approved. |

This review is from July 2017.
The appointments at the embassy are at 2:30pm for family visas. I was able to chose the date but all the appointments were at 2:30pm. I needed to take the day off anyway to travel to Madrid, so that did not particularly bother me.
There was a short line and one of the embassy workers put a sticker on my passport indicating I was there for a a K1 visa.
As usual, they made me leave my phone to enter the embassy but they allowed a small bag. Backpacks are not permitted.
Once you go in you take your number (the number machine is right before entering the main room) and wait.
I had to wait about 20-30 min, then they took my documents, asked for the medical and the x-ray. They returned the x-ray sealed and explained that if approved I'll receive the documents in a big envelope that I could open, then inside there will be my passport and another envelope I should not open.
Then I waited again and finally got to the interview part. I noticed that they opened a new window, even if the one that had been used until that moment was free. Not sure if there's an specific officer for K1s or if this was by chance.
The officer made take an oath that I'll tell the truth and the interview began. The officer make questions mainly about when and how we met, for how long had we been together, how often had we seen each other, when was the last time we saw each other. He was mainly interested in dates or periods of time. I met my fiancé while doing research in the U.S. on a J1 visa. The officer made serveral questions related to that visa. Seemed keen to figure out if I had overstayed (which I had not).
Then he asked what were my future plans. I said to get married and to find a job. He seemed with that answer and said that everything seemed fine to him. He explained again how I would receive the visa (envelope, etc) and remarked not to open the envelope (It was clearly marked when I received it, so no need to worry about that).
The whole process took about 1h and a half from the moment I got into line. They were polite and the interviewer was maybe a little more stern but the questions were easy to answer.
