files my N400 in Nov,2017 and finished  my fingerprint last week. I just login my ELIS account and found out the "status message"---USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail you the notice...

 

OMG, i would rather think this is a prank and typo in their system!

Total processing time from last successful submission to Oath Ceremony: 253 days (8 months and 11 days)

02/26/2012: Arrived SF airport. 

11/28/2016: Eligible for early-filling.

Day 00 - 12/23/2016: Sent N-400 + I-942 to Phoenix, AZ lockbox via USPS.

Day 03 - 12/26/2016: N-400 application marked delivered.

Day 25 - 01/17/2017: Sent email to support regards to application.

Day 26 - 01/18/2017: N-400 rejected because incorrect payment amount.

Day 32 - 01/24/2017: N-400 + I-942 resent.

Day 34 - 01/26/2017: N-400 application marked delivered.

Day 49 - 02/10/2017: N-400 rejected again because incorrect payment amount.

Day 52 - 02/13/2017: Email form USCIS support responded package was rejected in error (!?) for the first and second time submissions, they requested 3rd resubmission + tracking number in order to apply my earliest priority date. 

Day 52 - 02/13/2017: N-400 + I-942 resent on the same day, also sent a response to Lockbox to provide information to USCIS.

Day 54 (Day 0) - 02/15/2017: N-400 application marked delivered.

Day 62 (Day 8) - 02/23/2017: E-notification, E-mail from USCIS, E-mail from Support announced Resubmission was accepted.

Day 66 (Day 12)- 02/27/2017: Notice of Acceptance as Fees Waiver Approval received. (All fees were waived instead of reduced by half as supposed by filing form I-942)

Day 69 (Day 15) - 03/02/2017: Online Status Update: Fingerprint Appointment was scheduled. 

Day 70  (Day 16) - 03/03/2017: Fingerprint Appointment Letter received. Biometric will be on 3/15/17. 

Day 70  (Day 16) - 03/03/2017: Early Walked-In for Biometric at 3:45 PM.

Day 87 (Day 33) - 03/20/2017: Online Status Update: Case was placed in line for interview. 

Day 234 (Day 180) - 08/14/2017: Online Status Update: Interview has been scheduled.

Day 239 (Day 185) - 08/19/2017: Interview Letter received.

Day 269 (Day 215) - 09/18/2017: Interview 2:30 PM at USCIS SF Field Office. Recommended For Approval.

there is not way for me to win the jackpot! Just get fingerprint done last week. ...so it's a joke to show these words in my account!

Which office?

 

Name and fingerprint checks usually take a day or two at most from when they're submitted to the FBI. Either they find a match or they don't; it's a very quick turnaround at that point in the process.

when i did my fingerprint, the lady only asked me to put my right hand(without thumb) on the reader. She said no need to do the thumb as usually the system has my fingerprint back to when i processed the green card application.

1-2 seconds later, the computer shows they are matched from the history.

 

from this ,i have the feeling that .the fingerprint check or name check should be run by computer system very quickly at FBI, the turnaround should be a week or so in each case,but in the reality world, tons of N400 applicants are pending for the background  process. it's delayed dramatically.

 

what will be included in the background check ? what's the main factors causing the delay?

 H1b ---> EB-1A (I-140) ---> I-485 AOS(Green Card) ---> 5 years --->  US Citizenship N400 application

  • Day 0:  11/16/2017, e-filing N400
  • Day 306:  9/18/2018,  interview day--passed and in line for oath.
  • Day 332: 10/15/2018, Oath Day

"The first step consists in running a particular name, as well as its close phonetic variants and permutations, through the Universal Index... If the initial search of UNI returns no records, the individual's Name Check is cleared. FBI maintains that the majority of the Name Checks are electronically returned as "no record" within 48–72 hours."

 

So if you have no record (and there are no false positives, such as someone with a similar name and your birthdate who happens to like robbing banks or stabbing people) then most name checks are returned by the FBI to USCIS within 3 days.

It's REAL!  .If you look at my signature, the N400 went incredibly quick for my husband.  He received that same message that his interview was scheduled a week after his biometrics.  We got the letter in the mail a week later, his interview was a few weeks after that  and his Oath ceremony was about 3 weeks after the interview.  From the time we sent the packet to the Oath Ceremony it was less than 3 months.    Congratulations!

there is a huge difference in processing speed between 2016 and 2017.

 H1b ---> EB-1A (I-140) ---> I-485 AOS(Green Card) ---> 5 years --->  US Citizenship N400 application

  • Day 0:  11/16/2017, e-filing N400
  • Day 306:  9/18/2018,  interview day--passed and in line for oath.

It could very well be real---my timeline was very quick as well, only a 8 day turnaround time between my fingerprints and being scheduled for an interview.  Congrats on your application picking up speed!
