SAME SEX GETTING MARRIED IN CANADA

Hello Everyone!

I am thankful I found out this forum. Let me share to you about my situation. I am a filipino currently working here in Saudi Arabia. I have a bf who is an american citizen and residing in LODI California in which this state, also allows same sex marriage. I met him thru facebook and we haven't seen yet in person so he could not sponsor me for fiancee visa.

Since Ive got a tourist visa to Canada, we have decided to get married in Canada since they are allowing also same sex marriage. And after marriage, he will go back to california and I will go back here in Saudi since my work is here. From there, he can start to process to sponsor me for immigrant visa under spousal sponsorship.

My questions are:

-how many months maybe the result to know if his petition will be approved?

-given that i have scheduled interview in manila, how many days to get the passport with visa if approved? because I need to go back in saudi arabia until such time that visa processing is on going.

I hope someone out there can share your thoughts if you have the same situation as mine.

Thank you...

if you've never met in person, shouldn't you be worried about if you want to marry this person once you met, rather than all immigration details?

Hello thanks for your reply/concern.

I am at east to him since we started to chat and talk via fb messenger call in fb .. We've been talking since May 2017 and I feel comfortable with him and I did not worry about that I didnt see him. He supposed to travel to Manila during my annual vacation but sad to say that his doctor dont allow him to travel longer destinations coz he has diabetes.

Anyways, we will be meeting in Canada this coming hopefully July 2017. Weve been constantly talking with siblings and as well as mine..

I am just asking coz he said he doesnt know any procedure after getting married..whats next since my location is Saudi Arabia and not in Philippines.

Thank you.

First things first.

Why don't you go through the US embassy in Saudi Arabia instead of the Phillippines one?

Hi,

Saudi Arabia is an islamic country wherein same sex couples are strictly not allowed in this country. I have read in some forum that our country is issuing visa for same sex. We are sure of our decision to settle down in Canada since I will be going this year for a short visit with relatives.

My only concern is, when he start to process for immigrant visa or green card for me, i am in saudi that time coz my work is here and I could not give up my job also while waiting for the result of his petition..and if I am in manila for annual vacation, my maximum stay is only one month and need to go back in saudi for my work..

Usually, consulates do not like people marrying the first time they meet each other. The evidence for you will be flimsy. You basically have chats, you met once, you got married. Why not meet and then apply for a K1 visa? If you apply for a spousal visa, you will be asked for bona fide marriage rather than bona fide relationship.

How are you going to move to Canada.

Hi,

The only problem is that my current location where I am currently working which is saudi arabia and they are not issuing such visas for same sex.. yes, we've been chatting constantly and videocalls since May 2017.. I could not resign my job here and go back to Philippines while he applies for K1 visa.

so thats why, we were thinking that since Ive got tourist visa to Canada, why not getting married there? this is our first option if it will work.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.. appreciated a lot.

Do you mean you want to live in Canada? If you want to live in Canada you don't need a green card for the US. What it is more, you cannot get a green card if you are going to be living in Canada.

Hello,, No, I mean we will have our marriage in Canada...and after getting married, he will go back in california and I will go back here in saudi since I am working here..from there, he will get a lawyer to start for the sponsoring process..

I dont want to resign also and go back to Philippines while waiting for the petition..
