As stated earlier, I  just received notice that my interview has been scheduled. 

At the time of filing in late 2017, I owed 2016 state taxes, and noted so on the application with explanation that I am making plans to pay it off. I did pay off the 2016 state taxes early this year - in 2018. 

However, I have just filed my taxes and do owe state taxes again for 2017. I applied for installment payments and waiting for a decision on it, so that I can sign a payment arrangement agreement with the state. 

Now that I going for the interview, it is likely this issue will come up. If I am asked if I still owe taxes, I intend to answer yes, but in the absence of a payment arrangement agreement, what other explanation can I give? 
Will receipt of any payment made towards the taxes be sufficient to show that I am making an attempt to pay it off?  How can one deal with this issue?

The primary requisites of a Citizenship application is establishing continuous residency,  having good moral character,  be at least 18 years of age or older.  These are the attributes the interviewer is going to look at, apart from the  your English and civics test , to check your eligibility.  However,  Tax filing is also an important aspect of the process.  Paying the dues in time is one thing  and filing the taxes  in time  is another thing.  Since you payed the 2016 taxes you owe to state in 2018,  that will establish the fact that you  always have an intention to pay  the due amount.  For your 2017 state taxes,  show the interviewer the proof that you  did make an arrangement with state to pay the taxes in installments (though you are still awaiting a decision from the state ).  It will establish the fact that you are again intending to  pay it off. Apart from this,  the interviewer will be more curious to know why 2016 taxes  were filed in late 2017.

Hi there, Yeah you should bring the evidence you submitted and also any evidence you gathered since filing for naturalization. I am not sure about the passport photo. I wonder if you are being asked if not you could bring them with you just to be on the safe side. Since my field office is also Portland OR I will be following your status. Keep us posted.  I am pretty positive you will do well. Have a great interview, regards.

here is my time line can someone please add it to December 2017 filers:

 

Green Card Date: 03/18/2015.

12/18/2017 filed online

12/27/2017 fingerprint done (Early walk-in. scheduled date is 1/12/2018)

4/20/2018 interview scheduled (I submitted an expedite request and they approved the request)

6/1/2018 the interview date.

Field office: Philadelphia, PA.

I got an email today from ELISdonotreply@uscis.dhs.gov with the subject saying "Case Update Notification".

The body of the email starts with:

Dear "my Name":

 

The rest of the email body is empty. Is that normal?

Hi there,

 

I passed my interview today and they will mail me my oath letter. I didn't ask when they will mail me my oath schedule because I was so relieved that the interview is over and I was recommended for approval. 

My appointment was at 12pm and we got there around 11.20am and saw bunch of people just got done with their Oath. You could see the burst of emotion. I checked in and waited on the 2nd floor.  I got call around 12.20pm and got out of the room around 12.35pm. It was quick interview. I brought essential documents that was asked on the letter and things that proved my marriage. The officer was nice and pleasant. She only asked my state ID (DL), Green Card and Passport.

Hope everyone is having a nice day. It's getting warm here in PNW and we love it.

Hi, I am very pleased to know that. I am also waiting for my interview letter but I believe I have to wait for few more months. The weather is very nice and 70 degrees. Do you remember the civic questions asked from you? Have a great rest of your naturalization journey. Keep us posted on your progress, regards.

On the basis that I extremely need to apply for a green card for my mother to join me here in the US, because she is not safe in my home country. I made an infopass on 4/11/2018 and an immigration officer wrote the request and sent it to Missouri office. On 4/16/18 the Missouri office sent me an email to contact my field office to expedite my case.

this is the email they sent me:

 

“Recently you contacted USCIS concerning your pending Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Systems show that your application is in the queue pending an interview appointment. You should be receiving this appointment notification from your local Field Office. If you need to expedite your case, you may contact your local USCIS Field Office.”

 

On 4/18/18 i went for an infopass and luckily i met the same IO. She didn’t ask me for any evidence to prove my claim, she just went to her supervisor to get permission to request from the scheduling center to put me ahead of the line and schedule my interview. The supervisor was in a meeting and she said i can go she will talk to him whenever he finishes the meeting.

 

the  nextday 4/19/18 she called me and told me that she has sent the request and she said nothing is guaranteed but they may consider the request and schedule my interview. 

 

The next day 4/20/18 in the afternoon I received an email that my status has been updated. I checked my status it says interview was scheduled 😃. An hour after the email notification the lovely IO called me telling me that I am scheduled for 6/1/18 at 8:00am. I am waiting for the letter to upload in my USCIS account and to receive it in the mail.

 

I didn’t believe it! 😳 They didn’t ask me for any documents, they were just in the good mode and they made it happen. 

 

When you are dealing with USCIS just pray God for good luck, because it’s just all  about good luck. Common sense is not in their dictionary.

It’s normal. I received the same thing for my interview notification. But over night you will receive a complete email with the text message.
