Hello,

I sent the I-751 application with the fees to renew my wife's green card since it is 2 years old already and will expire soon.

USCIS returned my whole package and the reason is "incorrect or incomplete guarantee amount".  i sent a check of 680$ which is the correct amount and I signed it. I'm attaching a picture of the check. Please tell me what you think. Do you think  they couldn't read the check? Do you think they meant that there's another problem?

Check USCIS.JPG

I agree with the figure looking like a nine too.  I worked in a bank also and they would send back any checks that had the "and" sign.  The correct way to write a check on that line would be Six Hundred Eighty and 00/xx.  No and between the hundred and eighty.  petty yes.  good luck.

No, I had the same thing happen. I accidentally wrote my check for $5 too much.

Thank you. Should I add a letter saying something like "If there's another problem , please call me at...."? Or not?

No. If they need something else from you they'll ask for it via RFE.

Check USCIS.JPG

"nine hundred L eighty" = Incorrect or incomplete guarantee amount.

I usually write everything on checks using clear and capital letters, worded this way:

"680.00"

"SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY AND 0/100"

Thank you! When I send back the application with the new check, should I also include the old check and mark on it "Void"? They stamped on its back "For deposit only USCIS Vermont service center" (picture attached). Also should I reprint the I-751 form or send the original one? On the original one tehy stamped "received oct 26 2017 VSC" and also marked in red "CRG 11-13-2015". What do you think??

You don't need to send the old check. They can't and won't do anything with it anyway.

Not sure if you should do a new or the original form, maybe someone else has more insight than I would. Since they rejected/returned your whole application, I would (if it was me) just send a new form with the current date. Doesn't take long to fill it out anyway.

Are you still within the 90 day period of filing for your ROC? If yes, then do not include the old check and the form. Fill out the new form, check and include the evidences then send it.

If you're closing to the deadline of your 90 day period then include only the form with stamped for them to know that you sent your application initially, make a new check, include the evidences and send it again.

Hope this helps.

Did you reprint and reassemble the paperwork again, or sent back the original paperwork that was returned to you due to the check issue?
